Not necessarily, but that was the point. They did think about whether it would be sinful or not, and the Founding Fathers decided it wasn’t. There were other people at that time who felt it was, and did not lend their voices or support to the endeavor. Tories were not just Tories because they supported the King, but some truly believed it would be a sin to go against duly authorized authority.
