Dear Conservatives and Establishment Republicans,
I write today in the hope you all can get over whatever anger, distrust or bruised egos this primary season and political year has caused you. We on the right need to unite and send a message to progressives by unambiguously retaking the U.S. Senate in November.
We all have some problem with whats happened so far. Someone we liked lost a primary. Someone we didnt won. Some piece of legislation we hate passed; some other piece we liked did not. No one is completely happy, but we all know things can get much worse and will if we dont put aside what divides and do what we must for the cause of liberty.
The political right has a habit of letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. This is exemplified by libertarians, and its the fast track to political irrelevancy.
Libertarians will hate that Ive placed them on the right of the political spectrum, and indeed many of todays libertarians indeed have no political home and are all over the map. Today, the term covers everything from the great Reason Magazine to big-government, socialized medicine-loving Bill Maher. The present day libertarian label can mean anything, so it means nothing.
But Im not talking about those libertarians. Im talking about the Ron Paul libertarians who were quite comfortable in a Republican Party with which they agreed on a majority of issues.
Back then, libertarians put aside their differences with conservatives and Republicans to work for the defeat of liberals and progressives. All three groups thrived, as did the nation. But now too many focus on the disagreements, the differences, and the scars that come with fighting for what we believe, win or lose.
Both sides have scars, but too many of us...

Remember the California recall? When it supposedly became apparent that "Arnold is going to win" the bulk of registered Republicans pulled the lever for the grovelnator. The result? Republicans leaving the State in droves, Moonbeam in the governor's seat, ridiculous projects that won't work, the entire Sierra Nevada saddled with "regional planning," and $60 billion in new debt.
Now, here is the reality before that election:
"6. If the choice were between Cruz Bustamante, the Democrat and Tom McClintock, the Republican, who would you be more likely to vote for: Cruz Bustamante or Tom McClintock?"
September 25-27
Registered Voters
McClintock 49%
Bustamante 42%
Probable Voters
McClintock 56%
Bustamante 37%
InterceptPoint, I know why you've been so lame at replying to my posts. It's because you know you can't win that debate.
See tag line.
Compromising with bad policy is like adding a little sewage to your drinking water.
I won’t post about what I’d like to do to the next idiot who claims I want a “perfect candidate.”
Notice how they turn to name calling and strawman arguements when it’s clear they can’t logically argue and support their claims?
In my case, most of the pros go quiet. It's the idiots that fling trash.
(If it came down to either Ted Cruz or Nancy Pelosi as the House Majority Leader who would the GOPe choose?)
The fact that I honestly don’t have an answer to this speaks volumes about my distrust of the GOPe. Mistrust that was earned.
We will lose a lot more with Harry Reid.
Every RINO is asking us for a strategy. Here’s mine: If you live in a Red state, work to defeat RINO’s even if it takes electing Democrats temporarily. If you live in a Blue state, vote for the more conservative candidate in the General Election, even if the candidate is a RINO.
In the long run this will ensure that only conservatives, or at least people who conservatives can live with, make it to Congress from Red States (making a majority of the GOP), and we would still pick up some Republicans from blue states (probably RINO’s) to have the numbers to outnumber the Democrats.
What do we do with the traitors who actively seek to destroy their own party’s base?
Thanks for being honest.
You're a jackass.
The GOP-E parroted the worst of Dem anti-Tea Party talking points - i.e., lies - against McDaniel. They used Dems, many illegally, to win the runoff. If we allow this to be rewarded by a Cochran win in November, we are gonna get served up that same s**t sandwich every primary going forward.
I am not being petulant. I am being defensive of core conservative Tea Party values, which matter a lot more in the long run than one Senate Seat so the GOP-E can sell us out more effectively. But there will be no end of establishment apologists like yourself blaming the Tea Party for not bending over and taking it yet again - with each incident being worse than the last one.
party ID is meaningless
conservatism over leftism is what is important
So go ahead and stand with Mitch, nobody's stopping you. Trusting him is like the Israelis trusting Hamas.
And replace him with who?
Any compromise with evil (GOP-e) is a loss for good (conservatism).
Either you have a standard and adhere to conservative principles or you don't.
Has nothing to do with petulance...
It's an interesting psychological phenomenon. The trolls have no core principals; they're squishy moderates, pragmatists even, who will vote for the GOP no matter how down and dirty they are - look at Thad! And why? Well! The GOP candidate is less horrible than the Democrat candidate! Reid - my God, he's awful! McConnell, while he's a nasty, brutish person, he's GOP! The "R" covers a multitude of sins! The comparisons are all maintained on a carefully-tuned analog scale.
Conservatives have a moral core, and stand on principals. To the squishy moderate Republican supporter, that's bad! It makes the moderate uncomfortable, seeing us refuse to support their DemocRAT-lite candidates. As a result, we get called names, like "petulant", "uncompromising", "spoiled children" who will "cut off our nose to spite our face", etc. These aspersions soothe the moderate's conscience, as he slouches towards Gomorrah and rushes to pull the lever for yet another stab-your-back GOP candidate.
