Dear Conservatives and Establishment Republicans,
I write today in the hope you all can get over whatever anger, distrust or bruised egos this primary season and political year has caused you. We on the right need to unite and send a message to progressives by unambiguously retaking the U.S. Senate in November.
We all have some problem with whats happened so far. Someone we liked lost a primary. Someone we didnt won. Some piece of legislation we hate passed; some other piece we liked did not. No one is completely happy, but we all know things can get much worse and will if we dont put aside what divides and do what we must for the cause of liberty.
The political right has a habit of letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. This is exemplified by libertarians, and its the fast track to political irrelevancy.
Libertarians will hate that Ive placed them on the right of the political spectrum, and indeed many of todays libertarians indeed have no political home and are all over the map. Today, the term covers everything from the great Reason Magazine to big-government, socialized medicine-loving Bill Maher. The present day libertarian label can mean anything, so it means nothing.
But Im not talking about those libertarians. Im talking about the Ron Paul libertarians who were quite comfortable in a Republican Party with which they agreed on a majority of issues.
Back then, libertarians put aside their differences with conservatives and Republicans to work for the defeat of liberals and progressives. All three groups thrived, as did the nation. But now too many focus on the disagreements, the differences, and the scars that come with fighting for what we believe, win or lose.
Both sides have scars, but too many of us...

If you want my vote for your candidates it’s really simple: give me one that understands the basics of his oath, who has a clear political track record of keeping it, and I’ll vote for him.
Otherwise, forget it. You’re on your own.
We all have some problem with whats happened so far. Someone we liked lost a primary. Someone we didnt won.
The problem is that “leaders” of the GOPe committed election fraud in their own primary.
Charlie Brown might keep trusting your promise not to pull back the football but conservatives won’t.
One key word: ELECTABLE. The GOP/tea-party/conservatives need to nominate someone who is electable in the general election. This key point seems to be ignored, resulting in a Dem win and Dem control.
If Mississippi’s “TEA Party” candidate wasn’t “electable,” why did McConnel and Cornyn conspire with Cochran to commit election fraud against McDaniel?
Id rather lose that seat .. what if that seat makes the difference between R or D control?
Election fraud has consequences.
Dude, I’ve got room for more scars if necessary. Bring ‘em on. It’s not about me. It’s about my children and grandchildren and their children.
Learning from scars? That’s a lot like learning not to put your hand on a red-hot stove. We’ve been burned enough by the GOPe.
(But you are much more optimistic than cynical-me that the GOPe stripes will get rearranged even if Thad Cochran loses. I dont think so. We need to get our act together and win the darn primaries. We cant eliminate the GOPe but can, over time, make them the minority within the Republican Party.)
The GOP-E are a bunch of self-interested bastards. You don’t think they will change their tactics if those tactics end up making them lose power? I respectfully disagree.
And I am not advocating the elimination of the GOPe. In fact, I’m even willing to work with them to win within a “big tent”. What I am no longer willing to do is to support them while they stab conservative primary winners in the back.
I don’t think either faction can win on its own. But if we continue to be taken for granted, the GOP-e will continue to pocket our vote and keep drifting left trolling for some more votes. We must force them to stay at least in the general vicinity of the right if they want us to help them, and absolutely destroy them if they don’t. I have no problem with supporting their candidates as long as it’s a choice I can live with. At the same time, I will work to vote more and more conservatives to office and hold their feet to the fire once they are in office.
Yes, I can see how Nancy Pelosi would be so much better as House Majority Leader... (/sarc on my part but you are serious!!!)
If it came down to either Ted Cruz or Nancy Pelosi as the House Majority Leader who would the GOPe choose?
We all know the answer.
Go peddle your back-stabbers somewhere else.
And any Republican who votes for Cochran are voicing their approval of the fraud committed by the GOPe against the tea party.
Truth!
Look, a liberal with an R after their name does more damage to the country than a D in a conservative district or state. Period. End of story.
If the choice is between a liberal and a liberal fraudster posing as a conservative, then I choose the liberal.
I’d rather KNOW how the vote is going to go than sit here and wonder how we ended up with Obamacare on a court with five ‘conservatives’ on it.
I could have just substituted this entire argument with two words:
John McCain.
Unfortunately, I could have used DOZENS of other names. Dozens.
That’s fraud.
F*** the GOP.
That thinking got us Arlan Spector.
And Spector had GW’s endorsement.
I’ve been railing against this crap for years. Are enough people finally waking up?
Thad Cochran, Lisa Murkowski, Scott Brown, Eric Cantor (has he called Brat to congratulate him yet?), Haley Barbour are just a few examples.
It was TEA Party support that won Scott Brown “Kennedy’s Seat.” He lost the seat in his reelection bid after betraying his TEA Party supporters.
That’s about to happen on a much larger scale.
No, you're not. You're looking for posts that validate your existing position, and are unwilling to change yourself.
As was yours. Our point about what occurred in Mississippi has been made. I agree that what the GOP-e did was despicable but I also know that to splinter our party is not only political suicide but is national suicide.
You’ve got a point but why are you chastising us? The problem is with the GOPe. They’re the ones who aren’t cooperating. If they supported us we wouldn’t be in this situation.
Tell you what, just to be fair we’ll give you a chance to earn our votes. Bring out Cornyn, Cochran, McConnel and the rest of those causing the problems into the public square. Once they all perform Sepuku (aka “Hari Kari”) we’ll vote in favor of the GOP candidate.
You’d better round them up and convince them; November is coming quickly!
Numerically, they already are and have long been so. We are hamstrung with the "he can win" argument, that without the RINOs conservatives are doomed. Whose fault is that? Unless the RINOS realize that without conservatives THEY are doomed, they'll continue to hold the keys.
Teaching the GOPe a lesson would make me feel good as well but that feeling would be very, very short lived. Harry Reid can make me feel bad forever.
Drop the “GOPe a lesson” BS. It’s become as annoying and ineffective as “The Race Card.”
The GOPe is no different than the democratic party. We don’t want to teach them a lesson. We want to replace them.
If it is the GOP-e, or as I like to call them, the Democrat’s Other Party Elite (the DOPE party), then there is utterly no difference. Amnesty, giveaway programs, gay marriage, being comfortable with a police state, and — eventually — strict gun control. No difference to see between the Dems and the DOPEs.
Of course the GOPe does not want ANY Ted Cruzs. Nor do they want Allen Wests or McDaniels. That’s why they worked with their friends on the left to steal the primary.
Go pound sand, InterceptPoint. Tell your GOPe masters to update their resumes.
Unfortunately, what they are going to do is to shoot themselves in the foot and help the Democrats even though that is the last thing they want to happen.
Unfortunately, what they are going to do is refuse to get stabbed in the back again.
If you don’t want the Democrats to win stop crapping on and betraying your own base. It’s that simple.
You need to think your battlefield scenario through. Just how will you manage to actually destroy the Rats and Weasels. I would like to do that as well but I see nothing short of armed revolution that would accomplish it in the short term.
When you’re in a battle do you really want to shoot your own soldiers in the back? So whose side are your GOPe on? We all know the answer.
The word is a lie. “ELECTABLE” has come to mean RINOs only.
If Cochran was so “RE-Electable” why did Cornyn and McConnel conspire to steal the primary from McDaniel?
