That indicates to me that they was enough blood and/or tissue at the scene of the engagement to indicate that his wounds were mortal. They may have also found partial remains later at another location, perhaps an impact area from and airstrike.
I am saddened by this, and offer my prayers for him and his family. He bravely faced these risks, and deserves the honor he earned.
