Good evening, Maestro! An estimable array of gems this evening at the Seattle Chamber Music Festival!

I hope you will indulge me as I post one of my favorite Lieder - "Du Bist Wie Eine Blume", by Schumann. I worked on this delicate song for many years - here it is rendered by Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau:

"Du Bist Wir Eine Blume"

America demands Justice for the Fallen of Benghazi!

O stranger, tell the Lacedaemonians that we lie here, obedient to their command.

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Before each 8 PM concert, there is a 7 PM recital that is not broadcast on KING-FM. The first week of the series, Hyunah Yu, a soprano, sang that song in a recital of Schumann songs that involve flowers.

I teared up at the end of the first line when she sang it.
