In a story about President Barack Obama's potential executive actions, the Los Angeles Times suggested that illegal immigrants have a "right" to work permits even though that is not allowed under U.S. law.
The headline of the Los Angeles Times story about Obama potentially granting temporary amnesty and work permits to five million illegal immigrants blares, "White House pursuing plan to expand immigrant rights."
Last week on the Senate floor, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) blasted the Obama administration for declaring amnesty "as a civil right." Bewildered, Sessions, the former U.S. attorney, wondered how Attorney General Eric Holder could "assert that people have a Constitutional right to enter unlawfully and be given amnesty."
"That's an argument against the very idea of a nation state and the idea of a nation's borders," he continued. "Of course, there is and can be no civil right to enter a country unlawfully and then to demand lawful status and equal citizenship. Of course there is not."
He said the actual legal rights that are being violated are those of American citizens who have "sweat and bled and died for this country" and have "been called on to serve and responded, paid their taxes, raised their children, tried to do the right thing day after day."
"So what about their rights?" Sessions asked. "Will no one rise to their defense?"
Sessions, who has said that the Senate should not approve any border bill that does not preclude Obama from using federal funds to implement his potential executive actions, said proclaiming that amnesty is a civil right is "the kind of thinking that's got us into this fix, and it's encouraged the flow of unlawful immigration."

They have the right to life, liberty and happiness back in their own country. Not here.
I think should hire about a thousand. Dont skimp. Give them real jobs as AHHHHHH carriers and janitors and editor. Awesome.
I wish someone would explain to me how OUR Constitution (which is for AMERICANS), always applies to those who are NOT American citizens.
I can’t figure that one out.
The people hurt by illegals from Central America is far broader than you list. Illegals steal identities. They will stress the legal system. They will stress the health system. They will stress the welfare system. The children will get everything free — food, clothing, health and shelter, and we will pay hard earned dollars through increased taxes or more incurred debt. They will stress the school systems. Where ever they are parked, they will be a stress on that areas social systems. The penal systems will be stressed by members of Sinaloa/MS-13. When the democrats start using them to manipulate elections, those systems will be broken. Small towns will be stressed. Big cities will be stressed. So it is a bit short sighted to think that the only people affected by this is other illegals from Central America.
Early 60s.
Because that is part of immigration reform. Some are given amnesty onto the path, some are given amnesty to guest worker and some have to leave.
So you could speculate and say those that had been here longer than 10 years would be given amnesty onto the path, while those that had been here less than 10 years but came before such and such date would be given amnesty to guest worker, while those that came after such and such date would have to leave. Three different outcomes based on how they had been here.
In retrospect, it would have been better if everyone had supported Bush's immigration plan back then in 2004 and 2005 because under his plan there would have been no amnesty onto the path. All of the illegals would have received amnesty to guest worker.
Plus, Bush's plan was the cheapest because he pushed most of the cost onto the employers of the illegals.
You are right, I was forgetting about that, temporarily. I was just thinking in terms of jobs.
