US says photos show Russian artillery fired on Ukraine
Yahoo News ^ | July 27, 2014 | AFP

The United States on Sunday released satellite images to bolster its claim that Russian artillery has fired across the border into Ukraine, targeting government forces in support of separatist rebels.

The four images, prepared by the office of the Director of National Intelligence and forwarded to reporters by the State Department, show sections of the Russia-Ukraine frontier.

Two show what the US government alleges are Russian batteries on its own territory -- one group of multiple rocket launchers and another of self-propelled howitzers.

Pictures also show impact craters near military positions on the Ukrainian side of the frontier.

A third picture shows what Washington alleges is Russian-supplied heavy weaponry being fired by separatists from within Ukraine.

"The wide area of impacts near the Ukrainian military units indicates fire from multiple rocket launchers. The bottom impact crater inset shows impacts within a local village," the caption said.

Moscow denies directly intervening in the Ukraine conflict and has accused Washington of mounting a smear campaign against it.

Washington turned up the pressure Thursday, alleging Russia had fired across the border and planned to deliver "heavier and more powerful multiple rocket launchers" to its rebel allies.

Then, the State Department cited only "intelligence information" to back up its claim before releasing the photographs on Sunday to strengthen its case.

Ukraine also claims two of its fighter jets were downed by missiles fired from Russian territory, but its US ally has yet to confirm this.

Fears of the damage that Russian arms could do in the hands of Ukraine's separatists increased sharply after a civilian Malaysian airliner was shot down over rebel territory with the loss of 298 lives.

So, you CHOOSE to disbelieve the facts.

Somehow, I am just not surprised by that. TRUTH is not part of the agenda you are here to pimp.

Pyatt “Shared” the images, by RETWEETING the images from the Ukrinform Tweet.

Then, the Embassy of Ukraine tweeted, “Ambassador Pyatt said...”. Invoking Pyatt gives the tweets a “legitimacy”, even though the pics did not originate with him, but instead came from Ukrinforn, the Government-run National News Agency of Ukraine.

And it gives State plausible deniability by saying, “We just retweeted it!”.

It isn’t like the Obamatrons haven’t done this king of crap before.

Why is it so hard for you to believe that Russian forces that provided the BUK to the Russian rebels that shot down MH17 wouldn’t also be firing artillery/Katusha rockets across the border at the Ukraine army.

“Why is it so hard for you to believe that Russian forces that provided the BUK”

Because, despite Kiev’s denials of any losses, (which they always do) I knew from multiple sources, that the rebels had over run the AA reg., and had captured equipment, incuding at least one Buk. I posted that here at the time, as well.

I have yet to see anything from an irrefutable source that Russia is bombarding Ukrainian territory. When the DoD or State presents the EVIDENCE, then we’ll see. Until then...

And this pathetic effort at meme-building from Ukrinform isn’t helping.

Note the article... they don’t SAY they got it from the State Department, but from “US Officials”, which likely means one of Kerry’s little minions, or from Pyatt’s twitter account. the SOURCE is Ukrainform, NOT the State Department.

Good reporting from you both on this thread, thank you.

Drop the strawmen, and yeah, that’s pretty much it.
_______________

So, no statement from the State Department denying that it issued the photographs. No Statement from the State Department that the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, who of course works for the State Department, made inaccurate statements regarding Russia’s bombardment of Ukraine.

Also, I followed the links. The Ukrinform link is referenced by Ambassador Pyatt, but in doing so, he was pointing to a Ukrainian language version of messages Pyatt previously issued on twitter. So your suggestion that Pyatt’s original source was Ukrinform is incorrect. If one were less charitable, one could describe your suggestion as a lie.

The Russia Today and Life News versions of good reporting are making up facts and misrepresenting sources.

“So, no statement from the State Department denying that it issued the photographs.”

-No statement that is it issued them, either.

“No Statement from the State Department that the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, who of course works for the State Department, made inaccurate statements regarding Russia’s bombardment of Ukraine.”

That is so much ridiculous spinning, that it just HAS to be painful to your brain.

Geoffrey Pyatt more than pushes the Obama line.....his ‘job’ as Obama’s ambassador to Kiev is to whip up anti-Russian sentiments....so no wonder state referred to Pyatt.....LOL.... he likely had someone on his numerous staff members get it out there! (TCRLAF was right!!!!)

Don’t forget the phone conversation between ‘Pyatt’ and Nuland... (“Folk the EU”) ....as they planned who they’d be appointing as officials in the Kiev Gov.

Nuland’s husband is the king pin founder for the Obama think tank “Project for a New American Century”...in line with the New World Order people would rather not discuss.

My how these political couples interconnect throughout Ibama’s administration!...and they mulitple to the East!

As I have said since this started, the Civil War in Ukraine is just part of a MUCH larger geo-political game that goes all the way back to at least Libya.

And there is absolutely no doubt that Obama and his minions are on the side that harms America the most, as witnessed all the way from Tunisia to Ukraine and Gaza.

I forgot already! Sheesh...that Ukraine’s kicking this stuff out via Ukrinform to Pyatt....then Obama kicks it back to Pyatt.....LOLOLOLOL.....to take the heat!

Round and round they go....and you’re right...by the time people discover the TRUTH about it it will be accepted as truth and been long down the runway as that.

Project for the New American Century is part if the New World Order? Don’t you mean the “Jooo World Order?” Is that why we don’t want to discuss it, because we are all on the side of “the Jooos?”
