A waterway in eastern China has mysteriously turned a blood red color.
Residents in Zhejiang province said the river looked normal at 5 a.m. Beijing time on Thursday morning. Within an hour, the entire river turned crimson. Residents also said a strange smell wafted through the air.
The really weird thing is that we have been able to catch fish because the water is normally so clear, one local villager commented on Chinas microblogging site Weibo.
Inspectors from the Wenzhou Environmental Protection Bureau said they have not found the cause of the incident, although water samples seem to indicate the suspicious color was a result of illegal dumping in the river.

probably some type of algae and/or pollution.
Are being blood and being polluted with chemicals the same thing?
I never get British comedy.
What chemicals?
Whatever chemicals turned the river red. Or are you saying it’s red because an angel has poured out his vial?

I guess it isn’t really all that unusual.
I’m not saying anything other than what the article says.
“Upon inspection, investigators with the Wenzhou Environmental Protection Bureau were unable to find any specific causes for the bloody incident.”
“Xiao said there is a paper manufacturer, a food coloring company and clothing-maker a long the river.”
“Locals said the river appeared perfectly fine around 5 a.m. local time, but less than one hour later, people suddenly noticed the blood-red metamorphosis.”
Red tide. put your tin foil hats away.
It’s almost as if the author added “bloody” to get hits...
Nah, it must be a supernatural occurrence without an explanation.
This was two years ago:
Yangtze River Runs Mysteriously Red
A stretch of China’s longest river has abruptly turned the color of tomato juice, and officials say they don’t know why.
Residents of the southwestern city of Chongqing first noticed that the Yangtze River, called the “golden waterway,” had a spreading stain on its reputation yesterday (Sept. 6).
Though the bright-red water was concentrated around Chongqing, Southwest China’s largest industrial center, it was also reported at several other points along the river, according to ABC News.

I’m sure it’s caused by global warming.
Reporters: Chinese Officials, why would the rivers suddenly run red one day?
Chinese Officials: Im sure we dont know. Perhaps we could investigate. Well get back to you.
Its official! Its a mystery! What could it be? Mankind may never know!!! (cue Theremin)
Yep. Red tide stinks too. And I wouldn’t eat any.fish out of that
.. but this IS China.
Well...... It is “Red China!!”
It’s all Bush’s fault.
