That's not what the article says at all.
While the student said the quizzes were based on the textbook used in class, an OSU employee in the psychology department who wished to remain nameless said quizzes are oftentimes created by the teachers assistant.
There's a great deal of the passive voice here to dodge responsibility, but it's clear that the quizzes are from some combination of the textbook authors and/or the instructor and/or his assistant, NOT students. This "instruction" has the authority of Ohio State behind it.
I’d hope there was some kind of purported study behind this, that it was not a stereotype plucked out of thin air.
This isn’t biblically surprising though. And I’ve been there, done that myself. A clever mind can find clever ways of getting into mischief.
