DENVER (AP) Officials at some Denver homeless shelters say the legalization of marijuana has contributed to an increase in the number of younger people living on the city’s streets.
One organization dealing with the increase is Urban Peak, which provides food, shelter and other services to homeless people aged 15 to 24 in Denver and Colorado Springs.

I thought homelessness was President Reagan’s fault, same as HIV/AIDS.
You-All are correct that pot tourism or pot immigration is a reason.
However, this is the beginning, not the end.
Oregon, not to be left behind in the slide into dependency and shiftlessness, will soon legalize.
We should look to Nederlands, where they’ve had generations of experience with these problems.
Especially a takeover by organized crime.
For a substance that’s now supposed to be legal, and problem-free.
The self-inflicted attack on reason and logic creating a new class of needy? Go figure. Just what the socialists ordered, another collective to redistribute OUR time of life to. Work harder economic slaves.
When potheads self medicate themselves with pot, they admit tacitly that they are mentally and emotionally ill.
Homelessness is just one of many ways they express it.
Stevie Wonder could’ve seen this coming.
If crazy conservative me were in charge, no one would get any gov benefits at all if they tested positive for drinking or drugs.
This is quite shocking. Smoking pot and drinking beer together makes you smarter
No sympathy from me.
The law of unintended consequences always delivers swift and sure justice to the stupid and arrogant!
Colorado Ping ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)
Mygosh, just when I thought crazyworld can’t get crazier.
One of these days the world will be put out of it’s misery.
Oh,no! Who would have guessed? Turn a sane, sober, responsible person into a doped up druggie and we get a better citizen? We are a country run by idiots.
“This is the SECOND time I caught you smoking pot in your room. You’re out!” (Happened last week to my 20-something nephew).
It is not addicting. Some people like to get high, not risking jailtime, and kick back and get govt. handouts.
LOL!
They think it’s not addicting. But they can’t stop using. That’s addiction.
Yes they can stop smoking pot. They won’t go in to convulsions or “jones” for a high. It is not addicting.
Don’t get me wrong though. Pot is not helpful and is not a good idea.
