My unbiased, non bigoted observation is, the average Russian lived in serfdom, then under communism oppression.

Today, living in a Democracy, with Putin, they are much better off.

In the last 30 years Russia has changed, with our urging, for the better. We however are declining into a socialist state. I see Putin's Russia as a positive for us if we can get over stereotyping negatives, and partner with them.

This is an observation that is entirely divorced from the reality.

There are people being sentenced to hard labor in neo-soviet gulags in Russia. There are people being murdered in Russia. The "democratic" system does not exist in Russia, only its appearance,and new crazed ideologies replace the old ones.
