This may prove original assertion: the crew that operated the 9K37 Buk battlefield SAM system was not properly trained to do identity friend or foe (IFF) detection before launching the missile. In short, the crew got too trigger happy and caused a horrible tragedy.

Pretty complicated panel.....but I suspect this guy for the Malaysia crash....he's a ruthless best of an Oligarch with his own militia army operating in the war theater....and he's out to claim what he figures is his and while doing so provoke war between Russia and the US. He gets what he wants within Ukraine politics by force and even creating "accidents" to remove opposition who won't play along...or create situations where foes battle one another....He would have the means to locate someone who could operate a Sam system, but may not know enough to use the detection equipment
