A 551-pound man wanted his house arrest sentence to be reduced because he is too heavy to leave his home anyway.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that Steven Goodman, 70, received that sentence in August 2012 for supplying more than 1 million oxycodone and other prescription pills to pain management clinics rub by Christopher and Jeffrey George Wellington.
The Wellington twins are currently serving 14 and 15-and-a-half years respectfully for disbursing illegal pills at clinics in Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Wilton Manors.
U.S. District Judge Kenneth Marra, who sentenced Goodman, was unmoved by Goodmans request.
Goodman was only sentenced to house arrest because the prison system is not equipped to handle someone so large.
He cant dress or bathe himself, and prison beds wouldnt accommodate him, the judge said. The judge was also worried about Goodman being exposed to unlimited prison food.
Goodman has seven months left on that sentence and his lawyer, Edward Page, would like that to be nullified. For Goodman, home confinement with electronic monitoring is both unnecessary and futile because his physical and medical condition effectively confines him to his home, Page wrote in a 10-page request.
Goodman cannot fit in a car or public bathrooms, and has an extreme fear of falling, Page went on to say. His fear is so overwhelming, he just stays home rather than venturing out. Goodman spends moth days in his bedroom in isolation.
Goodman has only left his home three times since his sentencing; which was for his visits to the hospital, religions ceremonies, and his wedding.
Goodmans doctor has given him 12 months to live due to his condition. Goodman suffers from a heart condition, sleep apnea, and an incurable disease of the lymph system.
Goodman wants to visit his friends in Cincinnati before he passes, but the judge questions how Goodman would travel with his limited mobility.
If defendants health and obesity effectively confines him to his home, then continuation of that restriction will not adversely affect him, Marra ruled.
Fat chance.
he should give Richard Simmons a call.
He has moth days? Seems like he would more likely have hippo days.
If he can’t leave his house anyway, why does he care about the house arrest?
No photos of the ‘trapped victim?’. Let me guess. At 551lbs, Mr. Goodman would not fit into the camera frames unless the photographer were to back up so much that they were outside of the house. Involving the subject in activities ‘outside the house’ would of course violate his probation, right?
On “moth days” he gets so hungry, he eats the clothes in his closet.
Wait... what?
Turnabout is fair play!
He’s so big he’s arrested the house!
That is EXACTLY what I was wondering as well!
This sounds like a job for the Moooshh. She’ll get him on a healthy diet and in no time he’ll be able to sit on the toilet rather than using the tub.

That fat ass Richard Simmons should give HIM a call.
My Solomonic solution: cut him into two or three manageable pieces.
