At this point the world perceives little difference between the Nazi party and the German officer corps.
True, but in a way drones are a development from all of this. My father was in White Sands in the mid-1950’s and remembers seeing them working on drones back then. Well I think one capital bombed by cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and conventional bombs, one would be London, the other one, I’m not sure, I’ll toss out Amsterdam as a guess. I thought of Antwerp but it is not a national capital although it is capital pf its province.
London and Baghdad. The Iranians threw Scuds at them during the Iran-Iraq War.
I just noticed that Baldwin made reference to the use of atomic energy as a weapon. I haven’t seen any reference to atomic energy or physics in about three years. Odd that the censors allowed him to mention it.
The war of attrition in Normandy is just about done and the German units, especially in the West opposite the US are losing integrity.
The one unit that isn’t scatterd hither and yon in a bunch of kampfgruppen is Panzer Lehr division. You know, the one lined up on the easily identifiable St. Lo-Periers road...
Looking at the situation maps and orders of battle for the past three weeks has given me a better appreciation for the decline in combat power of LXXXIV Corps. It’s really just a shell; a hard crust with nothing behind it.
Same story here as in the East. If Hitler had let his generals run the mobile defense they wanted they could have prolonged the war. But now that aristocratic general staffers tried to kill him he trusts them less than ever.
I doubt the censors knew anything about the Manhattan Project and wouldn’t know atomic energy is a sensitive subject.
I have read where OKW continually could not understand why the western allies weren't realizing and exploiting German lack of defensive depth.
The Germans probably aren’t aware that the Allies are barely keeping up with the personnel and materiel demands of the battle they’re fighting.
