So you don’t have the power to arrest anyone you see committing a crime?

Of course I do. But what happens next, if it's a fellow officer in a corrupt department? You tell me.

Do you arrest a man beating his wife? What do you think happens next? That is not your job. You are supposed to arrest the bad guy. Well, it used to be that way.

IMHO, your department should be forced to fire 50% of teh entire staff, all firings to be proportional - cops and maintainence alike.

When cops went Full Rambo, they became a risk to the public.

When cops won’t arrest crooked cops, while whining What good will it do?” the cop shop became a RICO situation.

I suggest finding work which won’t degrade and diminish you.

American tolerance for militarized cops is dwindling fast.

My understanding is that the accused would be locked up in a cell until their first appearance at which time they will begin their journey through the court system.
