Perry sending National Guard troops to border [WH waiting for "formal communication")
Houston Chronicle ^ | CHRISTOPHER SHERMAN and WILL WEISSERT

".......As governor, Perry is commander in chief of Texas military forces unless those forces have already been mobilized by the White House. But if Perry deploys National Guard troops it is up to Texas to pay for them, while an order from Obama would mean Washington picks up the tab.

"Gov. Perry has referred repeatedly to his desire to make a symbolic statement to the people of Central America that the border is closed," said White House spokesman Josh Earnest. "And he thinks that the best way to do that is to send 1,000 National Guard troops to the border. It seems to me that a much more powerful symbol would be the bipartisan passage of legislation that would actually make a historic investment in border security and send an additional 20,000 personnel to the border."

Earnest also said the White House hasn't received the kind of "formal communication" with Perry's office that usually accompanies such deployments..........."

Being from the Midwest I am not in the thick of things regarding the Texas goings on. However, as soon as he knew about this immigration plot he should have taken to the airwaves. . big time. There should have been protests, Placed the national guard presence in all border towns (like a peace keeping force) and anyone messing with Texas hauled in, fingerprinted and deposited in the middle of Mexico and if they made it back put their butts in prison with the Sheriff Joe from Arizona food and clothing thing. . .no frills. No food stamps, no drivers license, no welfare and no medical attention should be given to the illegals. . .the word would have spread that America is not the land of the handouts. . .we have enough trouble within our borders on that one. Anyone armed coming over the border would be considered dangerous. . . .no questions asked.

OK so I got a little carried away. I hate seeing our great country. . a country that both my mother and father served in World War II for, on a very slippery slope.

Maybe it is symbolic but if other Governors followed suit, it would be a hell of a message.

Especially if all the AG’s then sued the Feds to get their money back.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott on Thursday said he is considering a lawsuit against the federal government over the costs associated with housing thousands of immigrant children detained on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Considering a lawsuit??!! Don't "consider", Gregg...DO IT!!
We the Taxpayers are SICK AND TIRED of funding 0's (latest) manufactured crisis!!

Oh believe me I understand your frustration. I live it every day and get called a hater, xenophobic, statist and non Christian , the niver thigns.
We have had cities here pass ordinances to not allow illegals to rent , those cities got hauled into federal court and spent millions plus got blasted almost daily by the press and of course dems.
Frankly it is nice to see blacks finally understanding they are being screwed by this
and many legal Hispanics who now understand this has nothing to do with ethnicity and everything to do with our country.

Most of the things you’d like to see just seem common sense but again get shouted down by leftists OR can’t legally be done
for all those who say perry’s move is meaningless at lest it is forcing the left to talk about it
