Actually, yes, at this time it is. For a long time, scientists wondered why longer specimens were not being recovered. The answer is the same for giant insects. The oxygen content in our atmosphere is too low. Raise it up about 3% and you can get larger snakes and spiders. Raise it up 5% and you can get snakes the size of Titanaboa.

Like I said, I’d LOVE for their to be snakes larger than they are. My retic is 18 feet long and 270 pounds. The largest living snake now is “Twinkie” the reticulated python. Do a youtube search on that and you’ll see her. She’s a gentle giant just like most of these snakes are. She’s 330 pounds I believe.

They’re not the scary monsters that many people think they are. Get past the fear and ignorance and you’ll see they’re really incredible animals that are not nearly as a threat as many claim they are.

A as a six foot adult, I have little fear of them. I have had large pythons draped around me at pet expos.

As a pet owner and a father of a small child, I would not be want one anywhere near my house.

They have escaped enclosures, been released in the wild, killed pets and children in confirmed reports across the nation.

Large snakes have been released into the wild in Florida and certain types have been known to cross breed. A fierce African Rock Python could cross breed with a larger Burmese Python, creating a very big snake with an aggressive disposition.
