Gov. Rick Perry is expected to announce Monday that he will activate up to 1,000 Texas National Guard troops to the Rio Grande Valley, state Sen. Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa, D-McAllen, confirmed Sunday night.
Perry wants these troops to bolster the work already being done with a surge of Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, said Hinojosa's spokesperson, Jennifer Saenz, who added that the governor gave the Rio Grande Valley delegation notice prior to the planned 2 p.m. announcement on border security.........
In Iowa on Sunday, Perry told a small group at a VFW hall that if President Barack Obama fails to heed his longstanding request to send 1,000 additional National Guard troops, he would use his authority as governor to do so.
"We've sent the message that if we don't get the satisfaction that the federal government's going to move and move quickly, then the state of Texas will, in fact, fill that void," Perry told the group...........

I’ll believe it when I see it.
Hinojosa is a double-agent, and cannot be trusted
This sets up a dilemma for Obama. Perry would be defending the border, while Obama will oppose him because the Federal Government has the responsibility to secure our borders, which it refuses to do. So, will the Federal Government tell its troops or officers to use deadly force to enforce its decision NOT to secure our borders? In essence will the personnel under his control be willing to commit an act of war against the United States by using deadly force against U.S. National Guardsmen?
“On Fox News Sunday, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) said that President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NA) are holding the illegal immigrant children flooding across the U.S. Mexico border hostage with promises of “amnesty........”
Another headline I expect to see soon: A Federal Judge in Arizona has upheld the right of the Obama Administration to engage in the human trafficking of children, and has ordered Governor Perry to cease and desist attempting to secure the border.
Obama administration ‘repeatedly ignored warnings about child immigration crisis for two years before finally declaring it a crisis’
Border agencies were ‘ringing alarm bells’ during the past two years about about the federal government’s capacity to manage the immigration issue
The claim was made in a 41-page report was presented to the Department of Homeland Security in March - The 41-page report was compiled by a team from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).
The Obama administration considered the problem a ‘local’ one and didn’t want it to overshadow the President’s plans for immigration reform
The administration has denied that it was too slow to react and claims the current crisis is ‘off-the-charts different’
Were I Perry, I would not ask obama for anything, I would just do it and it would be under my control not obama. Period.
Business is booming! Child migrant smugglers tell how they make $4,000 profit per person on treacherous clandestine journey from Central America to the US
Vast majority of migrants who enter the U.S. illegally do so with the help of a network of smugglers known as ‘coyotes’
Business generates $6.6 billion a year for smugglers along Latin America’s routes to the U.S.
Migrants pay anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000 each for the illegal journey across thousands of miles in the care of smuggling networks
Some of the money is used to pay off government officials, gangs operating on trains and drug cartels controlling the routes north
The profit made by the coyotes can be as much as $4,000 per person
The smugglers are profiting from the rising violence in gang-ridden cities of Central America, and the yearning of families to be reunited
‘It’s like a little chain, everyone is earning,’ said one Mexican official
I don’t disagree. But suppose they catch some illegals. What do Texas authorities do with them? If they release them to the Federal Government, the Federal Government will then release them into our society. Or suppose you have a Texas National Guardsman and someone from the DHS standing side by side. If the Guardsman tries to force an illegal to go back across the border, will the DHS employee use force against the Guardsman or try to arrest him on the grounds that he is violating Federal Law regarding the handling if illegals? If the Texas National Guard comes under fire from Mexican troops, police, or cartel members on the Mexican side of the border, does the Texas National Guard return fire? And whose side will Obama’s forces be shooting at?
It is what he can do as governor
Obama aides knew of crisis on the border a year ago
We knew about the letter that Texas Governor Rick Perry sent to the president in 2012 warning of the coming crisis of illegal alien children flooding the border. What we didn't know was that the Department of Homeland Security had prepared a report earlier this year that graphically warned that the situation was becoming unmanageable.
The Obama administration knew and did virtually nothing to address the crisis until it became too acute to hide from Congress and the public. Washington Post:
But top officials at the White House and the State Department had been warned repeatedly of the potential for a further explosion in the number of migrant children since the crisis began escalating two years ago, according to former federal officials and others familiar with internal discussions. The White House was directly involved in efforts in early 2012 to care for the children when it helped negotiate a temporary shelter at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio................................."
Issued in August of 2013, the policy is called the Family Interest Directive, and it essentially forbids Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from deporting, arresting or even detaining any illegal immigrant who is the caretaker of a child. That includes parents, legal guardians and even unrelated adults who merely claim they care for the child in question. The theory behind the directive is that it would be morally wrong to separate children from their caretakers.
In practice, what that means on the border and in the interior -- is that if you have a child with you, any child, you wont be sent home. So suddenly, illegal immigrant children are a hot commodity. Unrelated adults and coyotes use them for border crossings, then abandon them at the border. Parents who in the past would have left their children behind, crossed the border and then sent money home are now bringing them along for protection from deportation. And parents and family members already in the country who showed little interest in housing and caring for these children before are now sending for them, in the process forcing these children to take terrible risks as they travel alone along the way. If they make it to the border, they end up in the hands of the US government for safe-keeping until they can be reunited with parents and relatives.........."
Tara Servatius, American Thinker - July 21, 2014: The brutal Obama policy that's really driving the Border Crisis
-----------------
".......The Obama administration knew and did virtually nothing to address the crisis until it became too acute to hide from Congress and the public..............Instead of an effort to stem the flow of illegals, the president upped the ante by amnestying DREAMers. It hardly matters that the coyotes and drug cartels who were bringing these children into the US lied to them about US policy. The fact is, the president's words made the lie believable. This led directly to the humanitarian crisis we have on the border today........." Obama aides knew of crisis on the border a year ago

“Gov. Rick Perry is holding a news conference on border security this afternoon at the Capitol at which he is expected to announce that he will activate the Texas National Guard to help secure the Texas-Mexico border amid the dramatic influx of unaccompanied minors from Central America.
The nature of the governors announcement was first reported late Sunday by The Monitor in McAllen. The story quoted state Sen. Juan Chuy Hinojosa, D-McAllen, confirming that Perry planned to call up the state guard, as well as an internal state memo, indicating that troop strength will build to about 1,000 members of the guard in about a months time.
The Monitor story was retweeted by Attorney General Greg Abbott, who wrote, Texas is now adding National Guard to secure the border.............................”
"Hoping to stem the child migrant criss, President Barack Obama will meet next Friday with President Otto Pérez Molina of Guatemala, President Juan Orlando Hernández of Honduras, and President Salvador Sánchez Cerén of El Salvador, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said in a statement.
Heres the full statement.
The four leaders and Vice President Biden will discuss how to reinforce our ongoing collaboration to stem the flow of undocumented migrants from Central America to Mexico and the United States. This will include discussion of how the United States and Central American governments are cooperating to promote safe, legal, and orderly migration between our countries in a spirit of shared responsibility, including with respect to the return of family units, which began this week for all three countries. The leaders will also discuss how we can work together with other members of the international community to foster development, economic growth, and security in the region and address the factors that are causing Central American citizens to undertake the dangerous journey to the United States. The Vice President will also host a lunch for the three leaders prior to the meeting with President Obama to continue the dialogue he began on this topic in his June 20 meeting in Guatemala City.
The summit comes as the immigration crisis continues to take center stage in Congress, with House Republicans putting together a border bill expected to deliver Obama far less than the $3.7 billion he has requested to deal with the influx.
Speaker John A. Boehner has become less optimistic that a bill will become law before the August recess, while Obama has reassured the Congressional Hispanic Caucus that the migrant children will keep due process protections."
Meanwhile, Obama has spent the last 2 weekends golfing.

“The president flew to the base on Sunday afternoon from Camp David, where he spent Friday evening and Saturday.
An official said the president is playing with staffers Mike Brush, Joe Paulsen and Marvin Nicholson.
The White House said in a statement that Obama spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday morning to discuss Israels ongoing military operation in Gaza.
The President discussed Israels ongoing military operation, reiterated the United States condemnation of attacks by Hamas against Israel, and reaffirmed Israels right to defend itself, the White House said. The President also raised serious concern about the growing number of casualties, including increasing Palestinian civilian deaths in Gaza and the loss of Israeli soldiers.
Obama told Netanyahu that Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to Egypt to try to broker a cease-fire.
The president stressed the need to protect civilians in Gaza and in Israel, the White House said.
Obama hit the links with ESPN basketball analyst Michael Wilbon and Boston Celtics part-owner Glenn Hutchins last Saturday.

“Cartels suspected as high-caliber gunfire sends Border Patrol scrambling on Rio Grande”
“EXCLUSIVE: RINCON PENINSULA, Texas — U.S. Border Patrol agents on the American side of the Rio Grande were forced to take cover Friday night when high-caliber weaponry was fired at them from the Mexican side of the river, sources told FoxNews.com.
The weapons were fired at the U.S. side of the riverbank in the area of the Rincon Peninsula across the Rio Grande from Reynosa, Mexico, at about 8:30 p.m., sources said. Bullets ricocheted into an area where Border Patrol agents were positioned, Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, told FoxNews.com.
Border Patrol sources confirmed Gohmert’s account, and said the shots may have been fired by .50-caliber weapons. ....................................”

More talk. Stop begging Obama to “do something.” This invasion IS his “solution.”
I am an advocate of the Catch, Neuter, and Release program practiced by certain states in this country as recently as the 1940’s. Margaret Sanger, Hillary’s hero and founder of Planned Parenthood, had a big part in it. Look it up.
Neuter, point toward the border and give them a swift kick in the ass. It will work.
That is the border of Texas they have the right to turn back invaders, if the Feds start firing on them then it will be the second shot heard round the world. I think you are mixing up DHS with the Texas state troopers.
Let the Feds start shooting and they may find out it is not wise to let your alligator mouth get your hummingbird ass in trouble. Tired of this constant defeatism, isn’t there some left wing site you can go wring your hands at and say woe is me, the sky is falling. Sh1t,
