Unlike many other Freepers, I think this is obscene. And it is affecting our health.
Yesterday, I was in Safeway, where I ordinarily buy only produce, mostly organic, looking for a can of something other than cat food that my cat would enjoy. Read labels on all canned fish. Amazing how much sodium is added to everything. Finally found a can of sardines with “no salt added.” Cat and I both enjoyed them.
I try to stay salt-free , so I don’t have to take blood pressure meds. It works. Every prepared food in the market would kill me sooner rather than later. Or create health problems that would require pharmaceuticals, which I also avoid whenever possible.
Were I a conspiracy theorist, I would suspect collusion between food manufactures and BigPharma.
We really enjoy the Safeway store brand that’s organic. Most of the items are non-GMO, additionally. We’ve tried everything from the jam to the cereals to the popcorn...
I’m thrilled there are so many more of these food choices now — not like the ol’ days where you had to join a food coop or search for a farmer’s market that was open on days off.
