The IRS cant say with certainty what happened to the computer hard drive used by Lois Lerner, or exactly where it is now.. On July 11, Judge Reggie Walton ordered the agency to find out what had happened to the hard drive... Manning said Lerners hard drive was then delivered to the IRS Criminal Investigation Division Electronic Crimes Forensic Laboratory for additional efforts to recover data from the malfunctioning hard drive.. testimony revealed another bizarre turn in the saga: The technician, or, specialist, who tried to recover the data from Lerners hard drive on that June day in 2011 may have been blind.
Manning testified, According to the Specialist, prior to joining the Internal Revenue Service, from 2004 to 2005, formal Microsoft training was completed through Lions World Services for the Blind
The testimony didnt indicate how blind, if blind at all, that person may have been. That specialist also appears to be highly qualified and extensively trained, as revealed by Judge Waltons order that all the qualifications of those who worked on the hard drive be reported.
The Lions program appears to accept either those who sight-read or those who use Braille, and an IRS web page shows it has worked with Lions since 1967. ... TWB

I know for a FACT that their in-house tax return-handling software is trash. I've had two run-ins with it since the late 2000s.
The msm reports it and the LIV buys it. That’s all that matters.
Or not.
I'm not even sure how a blind person would become a computer tech. Most of our job involves seeing things. Anything is possible, but it would be an enormous uphill battle.
But I bet you they can find down to the cent how much waitress Jane Doe made in tips in the year 1995. They likely know down to the cent how much each American citizen is worth. They know our every traceable transaction. Yet the hard drive got out of the machine on it’s own and walked out unnoticed.
Today, with even that residual vision gone, my friend has web pages, emails, and scanned printed material read to him by computer. Nowadays, most computer programs, including forensic programs, can be readily adapted for use by the blind, with audio replacing visual display.
Of course, a fully serious effort to recover the lost emails would have the hard drive analyzed by more than one technician and, if that failed, would send it out to a third party tech firm. The strongest reason to criticize using the blind tech is not that he is blind but that with twenty five years of experience he may not be expert with the newest recovery methods.
Perhaps when they finally locate flight MH370 they’ll find all those missing hard drives.
Excellent point.
Ultimately, the hard drive is just a squirrel to distract us from the servers and their back-up mediums. That they're obfuscating about the hard drive merely highlights their deceit about the servers.
Quite true about the servers and other backups. I trust Issa and his staff to eventually get to the bottom of things, to the extent that is possible.
Well, there were a few other gates in between there....like Whitewater gate, Weinergate, Vince Foster gate, Nanny gate, Plamegate, Monicagate, Chandra Levy and Ron Brown Gate...
The list goes on and on.
