President Obama on Friday called the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 an “outrage of unspeakable proportions,” declared it a “wake-up call” for timid European leaders, and all but laid blame for the tragedy directly at the doorstep of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Obama’s blunt language, delivered in the White House briefing room from behind a lectern with the presidential seal, offered a stark contrast to his muddled public handling of the disaster a day earlier.
As the news broke on Thursday, the White House signaled that the president had first learned about the world-shaking events from Putin at the tail end of a telephone call arranged at Moscow’s request. With grisly details coming in, Obama went ahead with a heavily partisan public schedule: A speech in Wilmington, Delaware, where he hit Republicans over infrastructure funding, followed by a brace of Democratic fundraisers in New York City.
Obama had begun his speech in Delaware with just seven sentences on the attack, declaring that “it looks like it may be a terrible tragedy” — a jarring response to media reports that were already citing a death toll of nearly 300 people. He did not tie the catastrophe to Russia.
And it was Vice President Joe Biden, not Obama, who first told Americans that the passenger jet had apparently been “shot down — not an accident, blown out of the sky.”

I have my doubts about this incident. Putin might be a lot of things, but he is NOT stupid. Donetsk separatists are NOT stupid either.
These people have a LOT to lose, and NOTHING to gain, by shooting down a civilian airliner.
Knox must have watched a different Obama than I did. I saw nothing but a wobbly, disinterested, bystander.

This sort of thing happens when you have somebody who is learning how to fly an airliner when already in the air and they had simply stepped into the pilot’s seat. No preparation for take-off, or climb to cruising altitude, or descent and approach, and for sure, NO CLUE as how to land this thing. Not even an idea about how to make a course correction.
No parachutes. No seat belts. Just fly it right into the ground. Or targets of opportunity.
We are now all passengers on American Flights 11 and 77, and United Flights 175 and 93.
Add to this the fact the the State Dept spokesperson had her twitter page all about a fashion article first and not about the plane crash. They are more than incompetent, they just don’t care.
They care more about destroying and ruling us than anything else.

There is something extremely wrong about the U. S. government’s national security apparatus if the first Obama heard about this event was from Putin near the end of a telephone conversation.
The only thing “wrong” with the US national security apparatus, is that no matter how they try to get the Current Occupant’s attention on all these brewing catastrophes, he simply won’t listen. They try to tell Valerie Jarrett, she simply snoots them, and never bothers to trouble the Current Occupant with even the most cursory of summaries. That is why he “learns about these problems” from hearing it on the news.
No doubt by listening in on Rush Limbaugh.
Mitt Romney was certainly a weak candidate (Listened to too many turncoat consultant/advisors)....but...he sure was right on the money about Russia being the USAs most dangerous and threatening enemy!!! Obama...of course...is more enemy then friend of the USA!!! Folks.....hate to preach....but the entire Democrat Party needs to be fully destroyed politically on November 4, 2014!!! Please....get ur butts in gear and go out and vote to take down Obama’s “Hate America” Democrat Party!!!
You seem to imply that it’s unlikely that the missile was fired by Russians or separatists, leaving Ukraine as your unnamed suspect.
In my view the most likely scenario is an undertrained and overeager separatist crew that was provided with weapons by the Russians. If the rumors that Russia is destroying evidence turn out to be true, then Russia is de facto admitting 100% blame for this incident no matter who pulled the trigger.

If the shooting down of the Malaysian airliner by Russian separatists is an “outrage of unspeakable proportions,” according to Barack Obama, then Obama’s own refusal to help the Ukrainians defend themselves against such actions is equally an outrage.
Why can’t the Obama administration at least send anti-aircraft batteries to help the Ukrainians protect their own planes from being shot down by Russian separatists? Otherwise, there is no chance the Ukrainians will be able to survive as a country.
This incident is a major victory for Vladimir Putin. It’s better for leaders to make people fear them than to make people love them, according to one of the world’s wisest treatises on leadership, ‘’The Prince,’’ by Machiavelli.
By accusing Putin and his accomplices of shooting down a passenger plane, Obama is engendering increasing fear of Putin throughout the world, enhanced by the fact that Obama also seems to fear Putin to such an extent that he won’t lift a finger to help Putin’s victims.
Putin is becoming so powerful he’s free to do virtually anything he wants throughout the world. He must be feeling like Obama’s close friend, terrorist Bill Ayres, when he was freed from prison: ‘’Guilty as sin, free as a bird, it’s a great country.’’ To Putin, it’s a great world. To the rest of us, it’s going to be hell.
I also believe that to be a likely explanation.
The world’s biggest bully and coward warns weak European leaders. I loathe and despise ANYTHING that man stands
for or advocates.
It’s not his fault — he needed an extra day to find an American on the passenger manifest and learn how to pronounce his name.
