A Colorado baker who refused to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple is appealing a "re-education" order from the Colorado Civil Rights Commission.
The order requires cake artist Jack Phillips to create wedding cakes for gay couples and to re-educate his staff that the state's Anti-Discrimination Act means artists must endorse all views.
It also requires him to file quarterly compliance reports for two years.
According to Phillips' attorneys at Alliance Defending Freedom, the reports must include the number of patrons that Phillips declines to serve, along with the reason.
The order stems from a 2012 incident in which Phillips refused a request from a gay couple to make a cake in honor of their commitment ceremony. Phillips said he told the couple that his faith would not allow him to bake them a wedding cake but that he would create any other baked good that they wished.
The Commission said that Philipps' refusal to make the cake violated the state's public accommodation law that requires businesses to serve customers regardless of their sexual orientation.
Phillips filed an appeal of the Commission's order with the Colorado Court of Appeals on Wednesday.
"Americans should not be forced by the government - or by another citizen - to endorse or promote ideas with which they disagree," Phillips' representative, ADF allied attorney Nicolle Martin, said.
Schnell! Achtung! Seig Heil!!!! Ve Vill send you to Zee Coolers if Zee don’t comply!!
The homos figure its payback time. They are deranged and get more deranged by the sex they engage in. The two negatives feed on each other.
There were other creative solutions. Make it and drop it during delivery. Make sure the oven failed at the last minute.
The VA must be a re-education camp as the death squads have already started. Obamacare is next.
“According to Phillips’ attorneys at Alliance Defending Freedom, the reports must include the number of patrons that Phillips declines to serve, along with the reason.”
This is unbelievable.
What is this, 1930’s Germany?
Once 're-education' is established as policy - YES, such camps ALWAYS become death camps to one degree or another.
Americans are just too ignorant and infected with Normalcy bias to recognize what is happening to them on a daily basis.
I now know how it was that millions willfully WALKED themselves to boxcars for camps.
They just refused to believe that it was possible what facts were screaming at them.
Same here.
I’ll pass on your suggestion.
“I order you to bake a cake!”
I read 3.2% said they were “other”. Homosexuals are using that to say they are closeted & really homosexuals, so the number should be higher.
Make it like any other cake, Instead of say, the day before make it a week or so before and let it sit in the back of the walk in until needed.
This madness can actually be traced back to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which effectively abolished freedom of association (or lack thereof).
This guy is a cake “artist.” All other artists are free to accept or to decline commissions for any reason or for no reason. What is it about the medium of cake and frosting that impels courts to require cake artists to deliver every possible commissioned piece of art?
Duncan Hines mixes are too good for his compulsory “clientele”. He should buy up all the “Brand-X” mixes he can find from China or elsewhere, especially outdated ones, and use THEM. Surplus grocery stores should have lottsa’ them.
“A lousy three percent of the population is ruining the country.”
Unfortunately, one of them is President.
Do we have a right under the Constitution to believe what our religion tells us that homosexual behavior is sinful or are we now subject to thought control even when the major religions tells that it is sinful?
Fight them every step of the way to the chambers.
China formally abolishes Communist re-education labor camp.
They’re people who think biological gender is something you can change at will, yet sexual preference is locked at birth and forever immutable.
