In your mind you've manufactured a non-existent third-person who could have swept in like Superman and captured the hearts and minds of Missourians and won the day ... if only Akin had stepped aside. That's a pipe dream, pure fantasy, borderline delusional. Where is this Super Hero? What was his or her name? Name names.

Akin was not only "good enough", he was "good". And he was in a viable position. The GOP-E and Republican lemmings screwed the pooch and helped the media bury Akin and cost us the seat. Thank you Rove, Romney, and various big tent acolytes.

Either of the other two candidates would have won the seat, that is why conservatives like the tea parties and governor Palin tried to get the loser to drop out, but his vanity is too great.

Palin did manage to give us our only senate seat pick up that election, and also gave us Ted Cruz.

You are spouting revisionist history. Both John Brunner and Sarah Steelman would have kicked Claire McCaskill’s butt in the general election and one or the other would have beaten Todd Akin in the primary if not for the several millions of dollars that Claire poured into his campaign.

Thanks to Todd Akin, we now have McCaskill as Senator for life from Missouri.
