You just hear the report from Shep.
Putin told Obama about the crash during the phone call earlier this morning.

Not sure what you are driving at . . . everyone should feel free to speculate, but posting speculation as fact? In order to spin the outcome? That’s where things get a little tricky.

Ed Henry asked the Press Sec, and he told him, he would get back to him.

Unless Putin is delusional (which I think he is not), he realizes that Russia's prestige is only based on untapped hydrocarbon and a stack of ICBMs. He has to realize that he does not have the infrastructure to be "the" dominant world power anytime soon. China is the real threat in that department. If Putin shared your assumptions, he would have moved his entire military to the Chinese border instead of smacking around former Russian possessions that pose no threat to him. Never assume that your opposite number thinks the way you do.

I did not say average rebel. Yes, it took expertise to operate the SA-17, but you can train 18 year olds to operate the radar and guidance control and launch a strike. It takes command and control to prevent such reckless use of top of line surface to air missile systems. I used to help train fighter pilots on avoiding SA-17 radar. The ATC had no business allowing a flight plan anywhere near this area!!! I doubt Russia or Putin ordered this shoot down. This was out of control rebels. Wait until some of the weapons Obama gave Alqeda, ISIS, Syrian Islamists end up shooting down airliners anywhere at anytime with same result.

The crazy thing is Malaysia Airlines had about fifteen 777s in its entire fleet. At this rate they’ll all be gone by by 2020.

The Berkut is the crappiest non-portable system fielded by the Russians. Well, it doesn't have to be great to shoot fish in a barrel, so to speak. I mean, it's not like the airliner was blowing chaff, jinxing and deploying ECM.
Sitting duck; easy shot.

The terrorists own leader Girkin admitted they shot down what they thought was an AN. If true, someone needs to find those tweets (or whatever), and make sure they are not flushed down the hole.

Wrong I saw the twitter post up earlier in the thread in which a separatist leader crowed about bringing down a AN cargo plane before it was announced a passenger jet went down
