To cleanse the palate. Hes got long blonde hair, wears an elaborate costume, and is forever swinging around a large phallic totem. If it was a guitar, Id have assumed hes in a hair-metal band and left it at that. But a hammer? The mans overcompensating. Hes got a secret.
A big one, as it turns out.
Whos up for a 37-issue series in which Thor quietly contemplates how much harder life is as a woman?
This October, Marvel Comics evolves once again in one of the most shocking and exciting changes ever to shake one of the big three of Captain American, Iron Man and Thor. No longer is the classic Thunder God able to hold the mighty hammer, Mjölnir, and a brand new female hero will emerge worthy of the name THOR
The inscription on Thors hammer reads Whosoever holds this hammer, if HE be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor. Well its time to update that inscription, says Marvel editor Wil Moss. The new Thor continues Marvels proud tradition of strong female characters like Captain Marvel, Storm, Black Widow and more. And this new Thor isnt a temporary female substitute shes now the one and only Thor, and she is worthy!
Series writer Jason Aaron emphasizes, This is not She-Thor. This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thorita. This is THOR. This is the THOR of the Marvel Universe. But its unlike any Thor weve ever seen before.
I wish Marvel would leave the social commentary to more sophisticated comics, like Archie. Follow the link above for confirmation that, yes, of course Trans-Thor is buxom, which goes to show you that certain core comics conventions must be observed even while in the process of shattering others. In fact, a Twitter pal makes a good point: If you look closely, youll see that Thors iron breastplate inexplicably yet conveniently ends right below the bra-line, leaving some skin exposed squarely in the center of her midsection. Looks like Trans-Thor is less concerned with protecting her sternum than with giving her male opponents a peek. So much for female empowerment. Its going to hurt when Loki calls her Whor.
Bang me, baby! Uh..uh..with the hammer of course.
It turns out, Im part of the changing face of comic book readership. In their survey of readers, they found that the core customer of ComiXology is who you might expect:
Male Age 27-36 Has been reading print comics for a long time
But a new customer is emerging:
Female Age 17-26 Newer to comics, with many reading comics for the first time digitally
Of buyers new to ComiXology in the last three months, 20% are women.

First (graph above) he found that about 25% of the self-identified comic reading population is female (Im interested in noting that this is far, far less than the percentage of women who play video games, perhaps indicating that the comic industry still hasnt grasped how to bring in people who arent already interested in the medium in the way that the game industry does), and that the grand majority (graph not shown) of readers is between the ages of 18 and 45, giving credence to the industrys contant worry about bringing in younger readers. Depressingly, half of all self-identified comic readers are single (not in a any relationship at all), but roughly 5% of them are gay, so at least we conform to larger statistical norms in that way.
Maybe he’s been a male lesbian all along?
“Hey, baby... How’s the hammer hanging?”
Give her time. Let her kill a few villains; then she'll have time to explore her sexuality more fully. /S
Just looks at the origins of Sleipnir.
Nobody is going to buy a comic book about Thor-azine. Sales will tank, the franchise will wither and die, and Wonder Bra will slink back to Asgard with her ... tail ... between her legs.
This is nothing compared to the rumors that Spider-Man is going to turn gay and the next Mary Jane is gonna be a guy.
Young ones aren’t reading the comic books anymore, most of them only watch the movies. The only ones reading this stuff are college educated liberals.
My younger brother is a walking-talking comic book encyclopedia and can answer just about any comic book question imaginable, but the funny thing is, he doesn’t actually read the comics because he thinks the writing is insipid, especially in the newer comics. He enjoys the comic book movies, saturday morning cartoon series, and video games and uses wikipedia and other online resources to follow all the back-stories of the various characters and comic book history in general. He says it’s “much less painful” that way, and that he’s hardly alone in his approach.
I’ll be the odd man out here. I highly doubt this is any kind of stunt to promote lesbianism or an attempt to be politically correct. This is most likely a money grabbing a attempt to draw in a bunch of testosterone males. The super hero genre is overfilled with jacked men, and it’s getting stale. What better way to regain someone’s interest than with boobs? Also, this could very well draw a whole new demographic into the theater. Maybe a father’s little girl will finally be interested in a genre he loves because there is a female in the lead role. I don’t know.
Jack Kirby is spinning in his grave.
Instead of a hammer, she’ll carry a giant vibrator.
