This type of dumbass crap needs to stop.
In all my more than 30 years as a cop, I never once shot a dog. You just learned to deal with all the dog situations in other ways. A kick in the head, putting something between you and the dog, etc. Tossing garbage cans in their direction was my favorite, worked most of the time (of course we had metal cans back then ... the noise and all).
