Remember Pete Hoekstra?? He was the guy "that could win" against Debbie Stabenow in 2012.

The republicans would take the senate, they all said, with men like Hoekstra, and Connie Mack and Tommy Thompson, and Heather Wilson, and Rick Berg, and Denny Rehberg, and George Allen.

But Hoekstra didn't win. Went down in flames in fact. And now he's (of course) endorsing the moderate in the race against the Tea Partier that's (gasp!) gotten under John McCain's skin.
