From the article & local PD:
“The dog was tethered to a pole, and the child approached to pet the animal when it attacked.
While responding to the incident, officers used catch-poles to restrain the dog, which continued to “fight and be very aggressive,” police said. The dog was taken to the Adams County Animal Shelter, where it “died from asphyxiation” brought on by the “restraint process,” police said.
Tacket is being held at the Adams County Jail.”
Interesting.
1. Dog was on a tether when unsupervised toddler toddles up to strange dog.
2. Strange dog can’t escape and bit unsupervised toddler.
3. Officers from PD put choke pole on dog and then claim dog was aggressive towards them.
4. Dog is choked to death by Police Persons.
5. Dog chokers then charge dog owner.
Might I here note the Police ‘dog chokers’ should have continued their usual ‘chicken choking’ behavior rather than killing a dog whose only sin seems to have bitten an unsupervised child who approached it.
The Dog Chokers should have arrested the parents for not supervising their child.
BAD COP! NO DONUT!
I am not in favor of pit bulls, and stay away from them.
However, the woman probably will be found to be in financial difficulty, living in less than safe places, and wanted a protective dog.
I do sympathize with the parents, but they are the ones at fault.
Somebody owes the owner money and a NEW DOG.
As the parents didn’t choke the dog, the PD should settle with the owner.
YMMV.
