It is not the job of the US (or any) government to display compassion. It is the job of government to apply the law evenhandedly and dispassionately. It is the job of individual Christians to display compassion. While I agree with your comment, I wonder why it was directed to me. I was just alluding to the real meaning when someone from the South says, "Bless your heart." (Hint: it is not what you would expect if you are from the North...)
