The Euro tradition of hating Jews is very old and very pervasive. Everybody’s got their reasons but they are just such convenient scapegoats. Meanwhile, none of their kids have polio and cel phones. It’s essentially a near-genetic attribute of the vast majority of Europeans. And Brits.
