“The political fate of the Republican Party is not something that those of us who are not Republicans need to worry about. If they want to shoot themselves in the foot again, so be it.
“But all Americans have to worry and worry big time about the fate of this country if Republicans blow their chances of taking control of the Senate.”
So Thomas Sowell is not a Republican but wants Republicans to take control of the senate?
I generally like Thomas Sowell, but this column doesn’t compute. If the Republicans don’t sue & don’t impeach, they’re left with standing & whining about what Obama is doing. None of the options are good, but I don’t see a better course of action.
He’s playing his appointed role as pressure relief valve. Nothing more.
If pressure builds high enough, and it may, his opinion will go 180 and this article will be memory holed by his fans. Which isn’t a new thing for any of the right wing ‘elite’.
It computes for me.
There are two parties that have the chance to control the House and it’s for certain he doesn’t want the Rats controlling it.
I don’t know what party he considers himself to belong to but we now know the two he doesn’t.
“None of the options are good, but I dont see a better course of action.”
Sowell may be harkening back to Napoleon, who said “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.”
Perhaps allowing the demonrat scandals to develop would give the Republicans a better chance to take back the Senate than would either a law suit or impeachment. Especially if they base the impeachment in part on “secret” evidence that the public never sees.
How about impeaching after the R’s have the senate? then it can go somewhere.
