Expats live in a bubble of wealth. In my parents country I have 2 maids, a driver, and security. That is something anyone can get used to. God was extra good to non Indian South Americans, but they lost their way and God’s protection.
People with money live like Kings in “emerging economies”, and expats have nothing to compare their current situation to.
Expats are not a valid source to measure a decline in a society.
Evidently, but some of them are normal people who teach in local schools and are not in gated communities etc. I realize the travel companies exaggerate and don’t give accurate info.
I have been doing this research for five years due to looking at retirement places....there has only been a few mentions of certain cities not to live due to crime...it’s the lack of UPSWING in the comments of new crimes or raise in crime levels that concerns me....we are hearing it due to the children on the Border crisis. I hear it here...and I read newspapers in some places.
“Expats are not a valid source to measure a decline in a society.”
They would still know if there where problems outside their exclusive communities -from newspapers, servants, neighbors, TV, the internet.
If the country was so detrimental to live in that parents would rather send their children on an unaccompanied, thousand mile trip through treacherous territory than have them stay with their family, surely at minimum talk of the problems would be going around.
Jewish parents in Czechoslovakia sent their children on trains to England after Hitler took over. The alternative was the gas chamber. But even these trips were organized by a kind soul in England, funded by the parents and English families, and the children went on a train that wouldn’t get lost.
IMO this invasion is just as orchestrated, but not for good reasons. The plan is to force amnesty and adhere to the Coward-Piven strategy to take down this country.
I wasn’t disagreeing with you, as the Americans have more money and can afford those things including gated communities.
I just think that those larger cities have always had problems....and some worse now. I think we have to know that the petty theft, pick pocketing, and other Central American crimes will be here now on a large scale.
The years of living like a King in those other places is coming to an end, as I have researched the food, housing, and other prices now almost equal to here.
