Moments ago, at 4:22am local time, a major 6.8 magnitude quake struck eastern Japan, off the Fukushima coast.

Update on the earthquake which occurred yesterday:
Magnitude was downgraded by USGS for the shallow earthquake to 6.5. The epicenter was located approximately 79 miles East and South of Namie Japan. There was an 8 inch sea level increase/tsunami at Ishinomaki Ayukawa and a couple of other coast locations.

I live in San Francisco and have shook, rattled and rolled on these wonderful hills ALL MY LIFE! Sometimes I have to wonder if it's a huge truck ... or the quake.
My three particular hills we lived on were shale and some SOLID rock, so they didn't slide. They just shook, rattled and rolled. Hey, that sounds like the name of a great song!
