Because if you a prog/lib it looks really cool on you book shelf; you know, next to all the works of Chomsky and your copy of Rules for Radicals.

You can’t have a study/office in your grand home with empty shelves. It’s all about perception, appearance and image. Over the years I have purchased some awesome books at places like the Junior League Thrift Store, most of which appeared to be brand new, but more than likely had been donated in exchange for a tax deduction.

One of the great things about the aging process is that you tend to forget enough of a book you have read so that reading it again is not a problem.
