SACRAMENTO -- Californians who waste water outdoors by drenching their lawns or washing a car without a nozzle on the hose amid the state's historic drought may soon face fines of up to $500 a day.
The state Water Resources Control Board is set to meet next week to consider emergency water conservation regulations. If approved, the rules would allow law enforcement officials and water agency employees to issue fines starting Aug. 1.

AND ... all these extra people need water, so you residents of many years and generations must be restricted in favor of the illegals.
Watch for these revenue generating rules to NEVER be repealed.
My, how the once-Golden State has fallen. These days, you are supposed to be proud of a dirty car and a brown lawn.
And they let millions of gallons of snow melt flow from the Sierra straight into the ocean every year to save the Delta Smelt, while the whole west side of the Central Valley becomes bone dry.
I wonder if the illegals will be exempt from these rules, just like all the other rules.
Do these state approved hose nozzles have a pistol grip?
California liberals are disappointed that Obama cannot “Make it Rain!”
The Mexicans don’t water their grass, because their grass died, because they always park their cars in the yard.

There are always unintended consequences. In this case, the consequences must have been known -- they were just ignored or valued little, by the powers that be.

Democrat votes are far more important than water or any consequence of their actions. And they will not build the necessary water storage to keep the eco-loons sending in the big campaign bucks. Nothing new really.
Judging mainly by the voting records of the state I’m convinced that a clear majority of California’s residents are worthless pieces of excrement. With that belief in mind I hope I live to see the day that the entire state dries up and blows away.
The biggest “water wasters” of all are those who want to divert all irrigation waters from the retaining dams in the Sierras to prevent the demise of the Delta Smelt minnow of the San Joaquin delta estuary. This excessive concern over what is actually an invasive species that was never there before recent times is just a further instance of emotion trumping good solid economics and common sense when it comes to shared use.
Before the Central Valley of California was converted to irrigated land, the spring melt on the Sierras was just a flash-flood that would inundate the wide flats of the valley a few weeks in the spring, and subside to near-desert conditions the remainder of the year. The ingenuity that tamed the cycles of flood and drought, and thus regulated the outflow into the estuary in the south end of the San Francisco bay, also changed the balance of the saline water to fresh water, which had changed very sharply over the seasons. Delta Smelt minnows could not tolerate that rapid change, and their numbers were confined to other parts of the bay, NOT originally in the delta.
The current drought in California is entirely man-made, and has little to do with the depth of the snow pack or the flagrant waste of available water. Restore the dams, and the drought conditions go away, while the aquifers remain well replenished by the regulated release of the stored waters.
Left in 1974, never looked back.
We East of the Mississippi (I'm in SW Pa), have such an abundance of good, clean water
My well can almost not be drained and the water is sweet and cold
Very astute. You are correct. Once these “rules” are put into effect they will never be rescinded. Perhaps ignored until needed to punish some uppity citizen, or business that doesn’t comply with something the Democrats who control California want, but never rescinded, therefore should never be allowed to be put in place to begin with.
I swear it’s like we have spoiled 3rd graders running every level of govt these days.
