The level of ignorance on this thread is incredible. Downtown Cleveland is in the midst of revitalization. As another poster mentioned, we have a world-renowned orchestra, a world-class art museum, our theater district is the nation's largest outside of NYC, the Cleveland Clinic, incredible restaurants, new hotels and luxury apartments.
Are there parts of Cleveland that I wouldn't venture into? Of course! But that goes for any American big city.
I'll join my fellow Freepers in disparaging the RNC and their recent track record, but don't make a fool of yourself comparing Cleveland to Detroit.

Hypocrisy much? Reagan accepted the nomination in Detroit.

I'm going to be 47 this year. People have been saying that Cleveland is revitalizing my entire life. First it was the BP building, then the Flats buildup, then the Galleria (remember that? Does anyone even go there anymore), then Tower City (Does anyone go there anymore?) then the stadiums, then the flats again, then the aquarium, then the Key building, then the Clinic, then the Medical Mart etc. etc. etc.
The buildings, institutions, restaurants and hotels were never the problem. The decades of Rat mismanagement is the problem. Changing the outward appearance is putting lipstick on a pig.

This Texan says Congratulation.....I was pretty sure that Cleveland would be chosen because of Ohio being a swing state. I agree the level of ignorance on this thread, as well of FR of late is mind boggling.
