...There is a direct genealogical line from 19th century modified liberalism, through progressive liberalism to today's 'equality and fairness for everyone except those we disagree with' liberalism. The problem is that, although they like to shout about progressiveness... they have no moral vision of what they are progressing to, only an antipathy to what they are progressing from. Liberalism in theology started as the right to question accepted answers in pursuit of clearer ones, and ended as the right to believe anything you want and still claim it was Christian. Liberalism in politics has followed a similar path. To infinity and beyond!
What "liberals" or "progressives" cannot abide is that God created a universe, we are part of that universe and can only properly operate if we follow the design of the System Developer, and the Developer is way, way bigger and smarter than mere humans. They think they are the only smart ones, and that the scriptures written in the blink of God's eye are now outdated and irrelevant. They are certain they can redesign humanity by passing laws; and if humanity won't knuckle under to those laws, that they are justified in oppressing, jailing or killing. They live for today, for glory in this short life and for their murderous passions. Believers live for eternity and are aware that any hurts they cause will come back to haunt or doom them unless they repent; likewise the good they do will lay up treasure for them in eternity.
Well said.
