8-11 percent

Cut that by 3 - most cases people say will vote for 3rd party candidates

When time comes either fail to vote or vote for one of the major party

Lucky if gets more that 3 per assuming doesnt self destreuct as prone to do ........

But in a tight race 3 or 4 percent can be the deciding factor. Look at Florida in the 2000 presidential election. Nader took 1.6% of the vote and handed the state, and the presidency, to Bush.

In the Indiana senate race in 2012 the libertarian got 5.7%.

“Obama Joe” Donnelly won with the fabled “Clintonian plurality”
