He isn’t ready. I would love to see him as a Senator, though. He could bring a lot to the table when it comes to health care—and getting government out of the market.
I like him, I admire him, but I do not want Dr. Carson to run for President.
Reagan didn't.
He does not have enough political experience to run for president. (I really want a governor) But there is a Maryland senate seat coping up for grabs, and I think he could do a good job as a senator.
He was used to working with 'actors" and comedians !!
I respect the intent of your comment, but have a somewhat different view. IMHO, pretty much anyone who cares about the US and who has a modest amount of common sense could be a good President. Without the slightest question. On the other hand, you could take a bunch of ‘geniuses’ and have disasters in that office. It's not that you are asked to do high level theoretical physics. You are asked to pick trustable and competent advisors, and weigh their advice in making common sense decisions that are in the best interest of the country.
Carson may not be ready, but it would be because he hasn't learned to be exactly what we don't want in a President - a dishonest manipulative political operative.
I think the good doctor is a perceptive man. We live in absurd times. Presidential politics as we know it today is a whole other level of absurdity. If whatever enthusiasm you might have for the job, whatever willingness and desire you might have to serve your country in that position, isn’t mixed with at least some trepidation about that, you are not sane enough to be allowed in it.
“Dr. Ben Carson really doesn’t want to be president”
How about Surgeon General of the US?
Has a nice ring to it. . . .
Well the chief dangers seem to be
(1) You will age quickly
(2) You might get shot
That’s about it. People of good will (in the Lord) ought to consider such a sacrifice.
That would explode lefty heads.
The fact that he doesn’t want the job makes him a better choice for the presidency.
IMO, anyone who would actively seek the presidency is immediately suspect...the pay isn’t all that great and the anal exam required to run is painful.
Anyone who wants the presidency for the power the position grants is likely to be an evil sonofabitch.
My point is the best Presidents in modern times are executive branch men....governors to be specific.
Carson has much to contribute, I like him very much.
Generally, an ex-governor will be a more skilled president.
Certainly there could be room for Carson in a presidential cabinet.
I understand, and I absolutely appreciate your perspective. I guess I'm just so sick of the press propping up Obama as a genius. From my perspective Carson is so much more qualified.
Big Dawg excepted, right? :)
(I am not comparing Ben Carson to George Washington.)
Interesting timing. I just finished watching Gifted hands 2 minutes ago. Great film
RE: I would love to see him as a Senator, though
How about Secretary of Health and Human Services?
