You aren't too far off, I think.

I've made the argument for some time that the age-of-consent laws actually protect pedophiles. Because when one gets caught there's almost always enough trust by the public and the victim's family in the legal system that the pedophile ends up in prison rather than in a grave.

Removing the age of consent laws, especially if done by the unelected Judiciary, obliterates the notion that the system will work. The result will be:

1.) A LOT of parents/family members/victims taking matters into their own hands.

2.) A LOT of dead pedophiles

3.) A renewed understanding of, and appreciation for, the concept of "jury nullification" when the parents/etc are put on trial for killing the pedophile.
