Bring a niece, nephew, grandson or granddaughter. They can be persuaded. The movie will serve as an inoculation against PC history. If you can't do that, then send them a DVD when it's released. Do it anonymously if you have to.
Bring a friend. See the movie. Do whatever you can to support this effort. D'Souza is positioning himself as the Right's version of Michael Moore. We need him!
Black Americans have been taught by self-serving leftists that because there was once slavery in parts of the U.S., there is no such thing as liberty.
The truth is, Progressive Leftists are opposed to individual liberty as defined in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. The only real complaint they have about chattel slavery in America two hundred years ago is that the slaves were privately owned.
But they get orgasmic over the idea of slavery to the state.
Democrats never pass up on opportunity to tell us why enslavement by the state is for our own protection and our own safety, because life under the anarchy that conservatives want to impose is just too risky and dangerous. We can't have any of that inhumane "on-your-own economics" that conservatives advocate.
Thereby proving that you no longer have to be black to be an Uncle Tom.
Saw it in Oklahoma City Thursday night. The theater was packed. Janitta Swain, who played Madame CJ Walker in the movie, was in the audience.
When it was over - there was a standing ovation for her and the movie.
Guess I’ll have to go see the movie, I just finished the book today.
I had kind of a funny experience (well, at least it was funny to me) with my introduction to Howard Zinn
My departed mother-in-law was, in life, a major-league liberal. She was a community organizer type of liberal. Now, I didn’t know this about her before I married my wife, but it wouldn’t have made a difference to me.
As the years went on, both my viewpoints and her viewpoints became known to each of us and we entered a phase where she would say things deliberately to get a response out of me (or to see if I would just sit and say nothing)
Needless to say, I wasn’t about to sit and get baited by my mother-in-law, so I gave back in like kind when she initiated something. This went on for a relatively short period of time, then we kind of came to a mutual understanding. Neither one of us said a thing, but the understanding was there nonetheless that we would keep the peace by keeping our tongue. Not to say she wouldn’t occasionally poke at me (or me at her) but after that, that was pretty much all it was. I was kind of got the impression she was doing it just to see if I would stand up for myself.
In any case, I received a Christmas present from her one particular year. She knew that I was a history buff, and I read history prodigiously, so it was no surprise to me when I opened one of her Christmas presents and saw a history book. It was a fairly good-sized glossy volume, and I figured I’d put my feet up when I got home and begin reading.
When I got home, I opened the book up and began reading. At first, I was puzzled. What the heck is this? I read little bit further, and got even more perplexed. What the hell kind of book is this? I thought to myself.
I immediately begin skipping through the book, preferentially stopping in key areas in American history. As I reached each section, I would read sometimes only a sentence, or occasionally a paragraph. After I had been through multiple sections in this manner, I stood up angrily and exclaimed screw this piece of crap!
I walked out in the garage and through the book in the trash.
The name of the book was The People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn.
I was appalled. I had never seen a history book quite like that one. I was even more disturbed to find out later that this was an actual textbook used in public school classrooms all over the country. I’m still appalled at that thought.
In retrospect, it popped into my mind almost immediately as I was throwing the book in the trash, that this was perhaps my mother-in-law poking her finger in my eye. After a few more seconds of contemplation, I guessed that was not the case.
Knowing how my mother-in-law shops, particularly for Christmas presents, this book was almost undoubtedly on the bargain bookshelf at the front of the Borders bookstore when she walked in. I’d be willing to bet that she didn’t pay more than a few dollars for, because I doubt you could find it inside the store at regular price.
So, every time I hear the name Howard Zinn, I think of the anti-American far left political screed that was his book, that I had the pleasure to throw into a garbage can.
Or if charity is needed, that it is (EEK!) in God’s name, from (EEK!) churches!
True. But the fact is that there aren't that many leftists. The problem is the apathetic LIVs who hear the leftist platitudes (which are never countered by the RINO politicians) and adopt them without thinking them through.
So I can see where a movie like this could move the needle of public opinion a bit, if word of its existence gets out.
A big "if," I know.
Zinn is of the sort that takes a microscope to every little problem and blows it up into a broad brush accusation. And folks like your MIL love it because the overkill makes them feel so good about having avenged... something.
I wish I could say that only lefties did this.
I saw it today and it is a great documentary. He takes on every America hating claim and destroys it. Then he explains what the radical left is really up to. He destroys Sol Alinsky with his own words on camera from the 60s. Destroys Obama, Obamacare, the IRS, DOJ, and how Alinskyites are destroying America using the gov’t power to do it. Also destroys Hillary and exposes her devotion to Alinsky.
Madame CJ Walker could only happen in America.
I saw it today. Only a handful in the theater but it was a 1230 show and it’s pouring in Boston.
I thought it was great. It explained a lot.
Liberals seek to build a society based on slavery. Wherein we are all slaves to the state.
Alinsky made my blood run cold. This is a WONDERFUL movie, and my wife and I, along with my friend Mary Ann, enjoyed every minute of it. God bless great patriot Dinesh D’Souza. I don’t know how he did it again, but he did it again!
Not showing yet down the road in Lawton. Have no idea why.
Unfortunately, that far-left political screed has been given to 2 million otherwise uninformed university students. It will be very hard to undo the damage done by that man.
African-Americans, by their own hand, have fashioned their very own Obama, economic “slave” bed to lay in!!! That is not going to change...and as such..African-Americans will remain adrift-at-sea for many, many years to come!!! Sad....but so true!!! You can lead a horse to water...but you cannot make him or her drink!!!
Zinn was a hate-filled, garbage individual who has received plenty of support from like putrid minds who helped to spread his shameful “history” of America. The biggest surprise to me, I’m ashamed to admit, is the fact that Hillary Rotten was also mentored by the demonic Saul Alinsky.
Will have to wait for the next week or two to feel the impact of viewership of this great film. This is not strong weekend for any film!!!
All Freepers should turn out and view this film and encourage all other Americans to do exactly the same. Please continue ur input good folks on this site and others!!! We need to make this flick a major box office success!!!
Remember...the more numbers we can put in movie theater seats...the more positive impact this film will have among the general public, who will then turn out in large numbers to see it!!!
My wife and I saw it this afternoon. It was great and I encourage all of you to go. At the end the audience clapped and cheered and stood for the song at the end. It was a great July 4th event. I have to admit that if you love America it will bring more than one tear to your eyes. Also, several facts regarding America’s history were highlighted in the movie.
