When the neighbor's dog was killed by artillery fire, it was time to go.
Oksana Vasilieva was in the kitchen of her home on Comintern Street in the Ukrainian city of Slovyansk in late May as the shelling of her neighborhood began. She screamed for the children to run outside and then herded them into the cellar.
When they emerged, the neighbors' house had been hit. So had their sandy-brown dog, its dead body mangled in the remnants of a destroyed metal fence. She boarded an evacuation bus and fled to Russia.
"I'm not going to return," Ms. Vasilieva, 36 years old, said outside the one-room bunk she has been sharing with her mother and daughter in a refugee facility at a summer camp on the Azov Sea. "It's a dead city."

Ukraine's new pro-Western government has failed to persuade the locals otherwise or win their trust. ...
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is guaranteeing amnesty for those who put down their weapons and haven't committed grave crimes, but many refugees don't believe the promise.

In Ukraine Bandera is official model hero. They are scanting often “Heil to heroes”, “Ukraine is above all”. I watch sometimes Ukrainian TV.
Elderly women fleeing to safety in Russia in the middle of he night....dogs dying....children crying .... what load of Russian bullcrap propaganda.
The Ukraine govt is at war with Russians who have invaded Ukraine and are terrorizing the populace. What should they do just let these Russian hired thugs kill all Ukrainians and take still more Ukrainian territory?
So you are saying the Wall Street Journal is now publishing Russian propaganda ?
The WSJ is a propaganda rag...you read this Russian bullcrap propaganda right?
Russia is compiling a pretty good case for the Ukraine leadership’s committing war crimes but the UN won’t do a thing about it. They are to busy condemning the Israelis any chance they get.
LOL... Thanks.....
So, as we all agree the usual stable of CNN/NBC/CBS/ABC/whatnot are unreliable.
Now you add Rupert Murdoch’s publications to the propaganda outlets. Wall Street Journal, reporting this, and the same stories appeared in Fox News too. Must we now cross Fox news off the list too.
Where does one in your view get his news a crystal ball ?
Oh indeed that is true. Remember when the former Ukraine leadership used teargas on protestors in Kiev ? The stories were non stop how oppressed the protestors were and how severe the leadership was. The next regime starts artillery barrages, aerial bombardments, tanks and all the rest and its all about how reasonable the new leadership is.
Can you have imagined the press if the previous leadership had used artillery on the “rebels” in Kiev ?
Its so transparent that this is not about what is done but rather about who gets to do it. EU and NATO are now shelling civilians and calling it democracy. This is as mad as siding with BLM had they opened fire on the ranchers. But because we fund it we are supposed to support it ?
Its topsy turvey now.
There are plenty of reliable sources for getting the facts on the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the paid Russian psychopaths terrorizing the the people of eastern Ukraine, without repeating the Kremlin propaganda.
Hint: RT and WSJ are not reliable sources.
