On Monday night, Grant Sowell pulled into a Tupelo, Mississippi, Chick-fil-A and braced himself for the Tea Party meeting. Just four weeks earlier, Senate candidate Chris McDaniel had campaigned at this branch of the proudly Christian chicken-sandwich chain, promising shock waves through this country if conservatives helped him win.
McDaniel had forced a runoffshock waves rumbled as promisedbut in Round Two, incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran beat him. The establishment succeeded in besting the Tea Party with crossover votes from Democrats.
Sowell, a pastor and businessman whod campaigned for McDaniel, was leading the first Tea Party meeting since that crushing loss. Typically, 20 or so activists showed up. Thirty showed up on Monday.
They were fired up, Sowell recalled. Its not just that we lost. Its how we lost. Outside of anything being illegal, it was just the fact that Chris got the most Republican votes, and the fact [the Cochran campaign] made Chris supporters appear to be racists. I hope, and a lot of people hope, there are legal challenges.
Legal challenges. Outside of Mississippi and outside of the conservative media, the elections on the books already. The consultants who bailed out Cochran, led by Mississippi native and Romney 2008 and 2012 veteran Stu Stevens, have taken victory laps and explained how a GOP candidate appealed to black Democrats. Should it come as any shock, asked Stevens, rhetorically, that on the 50th anniversary of Freedom Summer, African-Americans also wanted to participate in the electoral process? Speaking at the Aspen Ideas Festival, about as far from a Tea Party meeting as the Voyager 2 probe, Hillary Clinton praised the major historical importance of Cochrans win.
But to McDaniel and the Tea Party, it feels like a historic fraud.

Ping.
Stunningly objective article from Slate. Puts the Daily Caller shills to shame.
Good to see momentum is building! This needs to get before a judge and Thad Cochran needs to be disqualified
The GOP establishment may win but if they do it will be a classic pyrrhic victory. To save one superannuated RINO they may tick off so many conservatives elsewhere that it could cost them what look like a likely takeover of the Senate in November.
We know who let the dogs out.
They have 23 or 24 incumbent RINOs to protect in 2016.
So, if Republicans want blacks to vote for them all they have to do is to pay them? Dang, why didn’t they think of that before? And why not start paying all those undocumented Democrats to vote Republican. It’s all so simple now.
Are Mcdaniel’s people posting somewhere to keep supporters apprised of any updates?
Not that I know of. If they are, its limited to the Mississippi team helping them get ahold of the poll books. Wish Black Agnes could give us info.
They have screwed the pooch....with this MS move.
At least that guy mentions the racists slurs, most coverage (even on “our” side) is just ignoring it. Even though that is THE reason people are fuming.

McDaniel unveils strategy to seek another runoff against Sen. Cochran
It may work in the primary to pay a black Democrat $15 to vote for the more liberal Republican. In the general election the same person might be willing to accept the $15 but when he gets to the polling place he’ll vote for the Democrat. Of course that may not occur to the people who handed him the $15.
WW I started about the same date...with the assassination of the Archduke. It took a little while for things to get going..this sham in Mississippi may be as far reaching..
That’s the stupid conventional wisdom by the MSM..tryinbg to gin up hope after the Dems lose the Senate this November.....GOP has 24 seats up in 2016..but actually only a few are in trouble...and the Dems have about the same number at risk...and after 2 more years of Obama, Obama’s policies, and Obamacare..well...let’s say I’m not that worried..
Well, of course he will. But the ones who pay the $15 (GOP-e) could care less. All they want is to defeat the conservative. THAT IS THE GOAL. For them, RINO or Democommie in the general is an equal outcome.
Any conservative who doesn't yet understand this is a fool. And a tool.
Without Cochran and McConnell, can we still get the Senate. That is really important especially after yesterday when the liberals lost their minds and are going to use that to go to the ballot boxes in droves. We really need to get the Senate in 2015. The Supreme Court is extremely important.
A LOT is riding on the suit that True the Vote filed today. I wonder what the time frame will be on that.
There are some updates on Twitter.
I don’t know. What do you mean by “we”?
I have no confidence whatsoever that a GOP-e Senate is “good news” with regard to the Supreme Court.
