True the Vote, the citizens initiative pursuing free and fair elections for all Americans, and 13 other plaintiffs have filed a lawsuit in federal court against the Mississippi Secretary of State and the Republican Party of Mississippi over the June 24 primary election runoff in which Sen. Thad Cochran edged tea-party challenger Chris McDaniel.
The lawsuit asks the court to grant immediate access to voting records to inspect for possible illegal voting. It asserts that defendants failed to properly abide by federal election record maintenance and open records provisions codified in the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA). Records made partially available to the plaintiffs indicated double-voting from Democratic to Republican primaries potentially diluting votes in violation of the Equal Protection Clause.
The complaint explains that the National Voter Registration Act supersedes Mississippi law.
All we are asking is that the Mississippi State Republican Party follow the law; allow their designated county representatives to inspect the poll books and ballots, give them the review time they are permitted by law, and allow them to uphold their responsibility to Mississippi voters True the Vote has been inundated with reports from voters across Mississippi who are outraged to see the integrity of this election being undermined so that politicos can get back to business as usual. Enough is enough, said True the Vote President Catherine Engelbrecht.
McDaniel won the June 3 state GOP primary with a margin too small (about 1,500 votes) to avoid a runoff. Cochran won the runoff with 7,000 votes, allegedly by convincing thousands of black Democrats to cross over and vote for him in the runoff.

Listening to Levin now. Hoping he mentions this!
We're starting to fight back... this is good news...

What you have is a perfect crime of opportunity for the
Democrats. In a state so deeply red, the only way for the Dems to win MS is to have a deeply flawed/compromised opponent. Thad now fits the profile.
Just think about the situation at hand. Three weeks before the runoff election, Cochran and his GOPe cronies came to the MS Dems on bended knee with hat-in-hand. The GOPe was so desperate they were willing to make a deal with the Devil in order to keep their precious senatorial
power. No doubt the GOP establishment thought by November
everything would be smoothed over; the base quelled into picking the lesser of two evils, the Tea Party crushed, and Democrats paid off for services rendered (knowing that victory in MS was a longshot, Dems took the low hanging fruits of kicking a Tea party candidate as well as the spoils of cash payouts).
But the Dems now have Thad in a vice
should they choose to use it. Simply saying you owe us Thad is just the starting bid on what the MS Dems want in return for their temporary allegiance. And what if Thad balks at their demands? Thad will get a taste of the Breitbart
treatment. The same type of treatment ACORN received in 2010.
Drip .drip .drip .and the GOP base gets angrier and angrier.
Blackmail is the least of Thad/GOPes concerns. Realizing that Thads shelf life is rather limited (he might not serve his full term of re-elected), and that MS is such a deep red state, MS Democrats realize this could be their best opportunity for a long time win this seat. If Thad is victorious in November, and does not serve out his term, the MS GOPe will pick his successor who will no doubt have instant access to deep pockets and a deep red voting base. If the MS Dems go for victory this November, it will surely be a long, hot, nasty summer.
Ever so slowly, the facts will drip out and enrage the base even further.
Drip .drip .drip.
I don’t know about that. Unless we are being given a skewed picture, this thing is beginning to take on a life of its on and when that happens it will not stop until something is publicly rectified.
I believe the Senate seat is lost to the republicans. It appears that cochran’s Republican support has collapesd, of course we know where his democrat support will go in November. thad won’t be in a position to pay his debt to the democrats, they even want our only used in this election Voter ID law rescinded, I’m sure wicker will pick up the tab for thad.
