I do have a big ego and won't apologize for it. My ego has worked very well in the past.
We are not winning now and we won't win until we divorce the Ruling Class Republicans, adopt thoroughly populist policies, unite those folks who are NOT Ruling Class of both parties, destroy these enemies of the American people, destroy their evil policies and make them a very disagreeable memory: Clintons, Obozos, Romneys, McCains, Terry McAwful, Haley Boss Hogg Barbour, K Street, Wall Street, and ALL of their ilk.
Of course, you don't so much mind that clearly senile Thad Cockroach has been nominated by hook or by crook so much as it bothers you (as an alleged conservative) that the primary tactics and victory of Boss Hogg Barbour to re-nominate the not so Hon. Mr. Cockroach will give "ammunition" to your conservative enemies. Got it! Surrender now! Surrender forever! Right?
This is a war of attrition. We will NEVER have the money resources of Boss Hogg. We cannot beat him and his tools in an expensive air war, paying gigantic sums to our media enemies to broadcast our propaganda. We have to depend on the far less expensive and actually more effective ground war. Doubt me? Get your pal Dole to put you in touch with Lowell Weicker, tell him someone who calls him LoLo wanted you to ask him how he was driven from the Senate in a general election in which he got about 40% of the Demonrats voting for him while losing about 2/3 of the GOP and Independents to Joe Lieberman who had previously lost a Congressional race in a district Democrat since 1958 and but for Joe's loss, ever since. Weicker cooperated by being Weicker, by attacking Reagan for attacking Libya and by going to Cuba to scuba dive with his pal Fidel Castro. You never know when the bad guys will self-destruct. You just have to be prepared and organized for ground war whenever it happens.
Instantaneous wins are not likely to be the lot of actual conservatives. Long term war of attrition is. They and you can take their $$$$ and put it where the sun shineth not. The endgame is that they lose.
You folks in Kansas once had a woman preacher (Mary Elizabeth Lease) who famously called for Kansans and other farm state folks to "Raise less corn and more hell!" William Jennings Bryan was instructive as a religious conservative who went after the interests.
There is a lot of trouble to make. You will be part of the solution or you will be part of the problem. Since you are willing to take any old POS with an R next to his name (the very definition of baby killing, marriage wrecking, gun grabbing, envirowhacko trash like Romney) as YOUR candidate, you ought to consider doing something worhwhile instead of your politics. Help an animal shelter, do some gardening, develop new strains of roses, teach poor kids to read, gather bedding and baby clothes and toys and furniture for children of mothers who decide against abortion, something worthwhile instead of a lifetime of service to the grubby greedheads who use you to control the GOP.
It WILL happen sometime in the future. Will the future pass you by?
