Standard Knob Creek is great neat. Just. Hair pricey for me right now as a regular supper. Jim Beam Black 8yr is nice, and probably very similar to a Knob Creek watered down 14%. But just to be different I'm currently enjoying Old Weller Antique 107 proof. It's a little different. No rye. Not very refined, but not cheap or hash either, but it's got personality.

My Dad had a bottle of Old Weller once. I tried it but I can’t remember now how I liked it. When I drink whiskey neat which is about twice a year I go with Black Bush or Middleton. Being an Irish girl and all. :-)

The art of cocktails is almost lost in restaurants. Recently Mr. GG2 and I went out to dinner and I got a wiid hare for a Manhattan. When I told the bartender I wanted it with rye he went into pre-psychotic breakdown. The head bartender finally came over and had to tell me they didn’t have any rye at the bar. They only use bourbon in their manhattans. I’m glad I didn’t order a sazerac. :-)
