It’s amazing how the law favors the squatters. It’s very difficult to evict anyone even with a contract, full notice and consideration. You can’t even touch their stuff or make their living conditions uncomfortable. It’s crazy.

I looked up some info on this when we had problems with an uncle who was getting thrown out of his assisted living residence. We had taken him into our home a few months before, then he became unruly, so he agreed to try the nearby residence. I was afraid he would move back in and refuse to leave (he worked me to death with his unending demands and all night wanderings). It was a big relief when he upped and moved out of town in a huff, took up with a woman, and never called us again.

California law makes it even tougher..getting a tenant who doesn’t pay rent can take up to six months to get rid of them..my Mom is a landlord, she has had to evict people before, its a HUGE hassle and they know that..the laws here protect the tenant, not the homeowner
