Democrats were crossing their fingers that Chris McDaniel would be the Republican nominee in Mississippi.
But since Sen. Thad Cochran has prevailed, they are trying to do the unthinkable unseat a six-term GOP senator.
McDaniel supporters are irate that Cochran won a GOP primary by reaching across the aisle. Now some of his backers are ambivalent about whether theyll come out at all in November and if they dont, that could create a rare opening for a Democrat here.

Obviously you’ll work with Mitch McConnell to crush the Tea Party and Conservatives even harder than before! If you get the senate majority!
Here’s a transcript of the call. Just in case there are people who don’t have the bandwidth to do that sort of audio and graphics:
The time has come to take a stand and say NO to the tea party,
NO to their obstruction.”
“NO to their disrespectful treatment of the first African-American president.
If we do nothing, tea party candidate Chris McDaniel wins and causes even more problems for President Obama,
With your help we can stop this. Please commit to voting against tea party candidate Chris McDaniel next Tuesday and say NO to the tea party!
I ask you again, does this sound like a GOP that will do anything to even slow down Obama? Because apparently the people paying for the call don’t want to cause “even more problems for President Obama”
Listen to the robocall in post 51 and tell me the GOP wants any sort of unity...
Yep. When was the last big McConnell speech assailing Obama? When was the last attempt to introduce legislation to curtail Obama’s powers?
My answer was originally posted in Post #57 ... I didn’t change my answer in the last five minutes ... :-) ...
Eh, most conservatives/Republicans will by the time election day rolls around - probably long before that.
Gotta admit, it's a tough pill to swallow. It's pretty clear McDaniel was the real choice of most primary voting Mississippi conservatives. Here the conservative leaning media, "establishment", etc, tell grass roots TEA Party and movement conservative folks to play by the rules, compete in the primaries, stay within the confines of the Republican party, etc. They do what they are told, play it straight and by all rights win - and yet Cochran and the Mississippi Republican machine play fast and dirty and essentially steal an election from the activist heart and soul that keeps the GOP in power. It's BS and tough to take. Still, with the bigger picture in mind it is just too important to retake the Senate and stop as many of Obama's judiciary picks as possible. And with the House and Senate maybe, just maybe, we can drop a few bills on Obama's desk that he will be uncomfortable having to veto - which is a good setup for us going into 2016. Politics is ugly and always will be, no getting around it - but the greater good of a removing Reid as Senate Majority Leader is just too important to hold grudges.
Thank you for the transcript Agnes. That just says it all. Who do these people think they’re trying to fool now?
So you admit the GOP has turned themselves into democrats and will wander in the wilderness for 100 years?
Good, they deserve it!
Yes, I’ve heard the robocall on TV countless times.
I actually got that call.
it sounds like one of the robocalls we get during the runup to Bennie Thompson being re-elected. Remind all his denizens to go to the polls and vote for him.
Imagine my surprise when it wasn’t funded by bennie the commie but instead by the GOP.
Well, if Thad wants to avoid ‘making any problems’ for Obama, he’s certainly not going to want MY vote.
Hopefully all those new primary runoff voters will show up again in November, he’ll need them!
Why aren’t you on some democrat site garnering votes? That’s where Cochran & Co went for them in the primary and the run-off.
Even worse. Only a few of the most brazen rats, mostly NE types, have the audacity to just openly blanket-accuse conservatives of racism.
I believe I was reading that some Tea Party people wanted to comvert to Democrats ... LOL ...
That would be difficult. Obviously the GOP beat them there!
Once again, I said nothing about party unity. You apparently replied to the wrong post.
Geez. . . I just got called an “operator.” Can’t wait to tell the grandkids about that!
Yes. They even wanted the rats votes in this primary and run-off. I’d say they were the ones who have gone rat. We support conservatives, not the red jerseys on the R/D team.
