JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Ridgeland police chief Jimmy Houston confirms that Attorney Mark Mayfield has been found dead at his home in the Bridgewater subdivision.
We're told he suffered a gunshot wound.
It is being investigated as a suicide.
In May, Mayfield was arrested and charged with conspiracy in relation to a political scandal.
The 28-year-old blogger, Clayton Kelly, allegedly went into a nursing home and photographed the bedridden wife of Republican U.S. Senator Thad Cochran without permission and posted an image online as part of an anti-Cochran video.
It's not clear the exact role that Mayfield played in obtaining or spreading the photo.
Mayfield was a Board member of the Central MS Tea Party.

Exactly.
That’s funny.

The most interesting aspect of the “taping scandal” is that Cochran’s camp knew about it for two weeks before notifying the police and the media. It came after revelations about Thad’s living arrangements in D.C. came to light, and the fact that he aide/land-lady has accompanied him on dozens of overseas trips since Mrs. Cochran entered the nursing home.
Thad’s a real paragon of virtue. Ditto for his cronies in the GOP-e. I’m a former resident of the Magnolia State and still have friends in political circles there. There have been rumors for months that Cochran only ran for re-election as a favor to Haley Barbour. One of Haley’s spawn wants to be a Senator, and (assuming he wins re-election in November), Thad will step down in 2017 or 2018, clearing the way for Phil Bryant to appoint the younger Barbour to the post.
No excuse for videotaping Mrs. Cochran in the nursing home..but her husband certainly used the incident for his political advantage.
Here’s another element of “photo-gate” that has never been fully explained. I’m told that Mrs. Cochran lives in one of the better nursing homes in Mississippi.
Not familiar with their security procedures, but at facilities in other states (where members of Mrs. Spook’s family have resided) you can’t just waltz into a patient’s room with a camera. Two of those nursing homes (both located in South Carolina) had visitor logs and you had to check in at the nurse’s station before proceeding to the room. If you weren’t on the visitor’s list, they called the individual responsible for the patient’s affairs. If the guardian/relative said “no” the visitor was directed to leave.
I believe that Cochran’s campaign got wind that something like this was in the works and allowed it to happen, then waited to release it at the right political moment. Sure enough, all talk about Thad and his mistress evaporated with disclosure of the taping incident.
His friends are saying that his mother’s death this year was a contributing factor to his distressed state of mind. (Not the cause just a factor.)
“Attorney [MS Teapartier] who faced charges in Cochran wife photo scandal, has been found dead”
Correction:
Attorney [MS Teapartier] who faced PHONEY charges in Cochran wife photo scandal, has been found dead
Another one to add to Bozos list! Wow, it’s out of control & no one cares!
Likely his reputation is trashed and he was facing a lawsuit.
Was this guy a real “TEA party” guy?
I believe he was but it’s hard to sort out all the details.
Looks like this guy has been Vince Fostered
Oh, I see in the article he was a board member of the tea party in MS.
The TEA Party has a board?
Some are very loosely organized, some have boards.
Reading threads more closely will answer most questions of that type.
Maybe like the movie scene where the German officer lays his Luger on the desk in front of Gen. Erwin Rommel and quietly leaves the room.
