Regarding judicial nominations, Reid used the nuclear option that Republicans were cowered by Democrats to not do, in order to eliminate the confirmation filibuster. McConnell has vowed to restore the filibuster, just in time for Reid to use it in the minority. How does that help Republicans?
McConnell has been reported to believe that it is better for the GOPe to let a Democrat in a red state have a seat that can be retaken next time, instead of letting a Tea Party conservative who can't be controlled by McConnell to have it.
If McConnell thinks that it's better to let a Democrat have a seat that can be retaken, then maybe we should let the Democrat have McConnell's seat, since we can retake it safely in Kentucky next time? It's McConnell's own strategy, after all.
